I peacefully lay on the bed the soft sounds of birds tweeting in my ear. I start to open my eyes and take a big stretch when... THUD. I push my legs off the bottom of Amelia's collection of colour, which is in a big white basket and fall off the bed and land on my back. I lay there for a while, wondering how I should start my morning, before the smell of bacon floods my nose with excitement.

I leap off the floor and begin to bolt for the stairs. I rush down at my fastest speeds and skip the last 3 steps. I do a sharp turn for the dining table, which is filled with the most extraordinary meals a dog could wish for. I run for her legs and am about to run into them, but stop my self and start begging for a piece.

"Look who's up," she says teasingly with a grin. She starts to give me lots of pats but the only thing I want is the bacon. She looks at me, back at the table, then back at me again.

"Okay." She hands me a whole handful of bacon and I run off with it to go for a small walk to make this morning perfect. I bolt out the door and begin my daily job across the town, but something this morning is different. Lots of identical cars pass and they're BIG. A smaller car follows close behind the whole way I feel like doing a bit of extra sleuthing today and start to chase the cars.

I chase them for only a while, but still quite tiring. The trucks line up and people jump out of the car and start walking towards the trunk of the car. It's hard to see, but I can make out the figure of something jumping on the window before the family come over and release it. Out jumps a beautiful golden labrador. He swirls around in circles for a bit, as if to say "I'm here! Did you miss me? I missed you! Oh, I love you sooooo much!".

He turns around and we make eye contact for a split second, but it was more than enough for him to spot the bacon in my mouth and imminently want it. He starts to race towards me at speed I didn't know possible. I just stand there in awe for a couple of seconds, before realising the immense amount of danger that I am now in. I start to run away, but he doesn't stop, in fact, he starts to go faster. We chase each other around for about 5 minutes until I give in and stop running and drop some on the grass. But he doesn't stop. He keeps running towards me, not even slowing down a bit, he has to stop eventually! But he doesn't. - Now that I look back on it, I should have moved away or done something to stop what's about to happen from happening,  but I guess I just underestimated his amount of persistence for bacon.

I stare at him running down the hill when- SLAM. He sped down that hill faster than anything I've ever seen, but not as fast as a Whippet though. His feet dug into the ground and flung him straight on top of me, it felt like a dog-sized... dog... had just landed onto of me! I tried to squeeze out, but he wanted that bacon. He when to grab the whole thing, but I held on too tight, causing it to rip in half, me, of course, getting the bigger half. He finally hopped off of me to let me breathe.

"HI! I...I'm Rufus, I...I just ca... I just came here from... well... my home..." He was panting and gasping for air like crazy, but still managed to keep a grin going from ear to ear. Oh! That's why there were so many cars, they're moving here!

"Well, welcome to here Rufus! You... you are staying here... like, permanently? Not just meet some best friends from a long time ago?" I ask, wondering if I'll soon have a friend that can actually keep up with me.

"Oh...well, I actually don't know... I-I hope not, not to be mean, it's just, all my best, BEST friends are at home and..." He says with each though slowly bringing down his smile a bit.

"Sorry I asked, I just wanted to know if my new friend would be staying..." I said, with my face going in all sorts of directions. His face lights up again, realising he does have a friend in this new town, and he sniffs me on my cheek, and I sniff him back. We sniff each other for a while and talk about PowerPuppy Kibble and the best place to be scratched and how it's way better to sleep on the bed rather than the floor (he was surprised at that one) before his best friend comes running down the hill calling for him.

"I have to go, my best friend is calling for me. But it was great meeting you, bye Sunny!!" He bolts back up the hill and towards his best friend.

Oh...I think it's about time I tell you who I am. I'm Sunny, I'm a long-haired golden Whippet, so I'm really fast, like reallyyy fast. I have a best friend named Sofi, she's a Greyhound, but I'm wayyy faster than her! But my best-est friend is Amelia. She puts colourful tubes into sticks and puts the sticks on a 'can-vas' they always look really pretty at the end, then she goes onto her com-pu-ter and checks the 'address' for the 'order' and then we go to the 'Post Office' She also has 2 doves named a Honey and Cinnamon, she gets cranky when I get into their bird food, and she always knows where I'm itching and gives me a perfect scratch.

I start to walk home, pleased that have made a new friend, when I notice a yellowish-brown looking thing covered in wires. There are bits of blood on it and its legs don't look right.

Is that... a cat?
