My phone rang from within my pocket and I calmly pulled it out while munching on my cheerios. It was late in the morning when the familiar picture of me and Mina, smiling and holding peace signs at an amusement park we went to a couple of days ago, popped on my screen. I couldn't help but smile at it. I could confidently say that Mina was my friend now. It was great! She was an awesome person and we'd had so much fun since we met at the exam.
"Yeah, what's up Mina?" I asked as I picked up the phone, making sure to swallow before I spoke.
"Did you get your letter yet?!" Mina shouted excitedly from the other end and my brows furrowed. "From UA" she added "I got mine just now, I want to open them together, can I come over?" she asked though I felt she wasn't waiting for a yes to actually head over.
"Yeah that's fine, I'll check my mail box now, see you in a bit" I said as we hung up. I took my time and finished my food. Sure the idea of what was in the letter had me on edge but I tried to keep telling myself to stay calm.
It's not a big deal, right? Oh who was I kidding, OF COURSE IT WAS! Agh I'm so nervous.
I'd gotten so close with Mina it would suck if we didn't get into the same school. What about Midoriya? He was the reason I even applied!
I scarfed down my cereal despite actively telling myself to slow down, I just couldn't help it. My feet carried me outside at a brisk walk to check our mailbox before my brain could even process I was done eating. I sifted through the mail until I saw the red seal and froze up. It was my letter.
"Tess!" I heard a familiar voice call from up the street and glanced over to see Mina running down to me, panting for air "you got... your letter...right?" She asked between breathes, glancing over the various papers in my hands. It took only a moment for her to catch sight of the one in my other hand.
"Oh my god, this is crazy, let's just open them here, ready?" She asked with her finger already under the seal. I scrambled to put the other mail under my arm and get my finger under my own seal.
With a glance toward one another and a nod, we pealed off the seal and pulled out the contents. It wasn't a letter at all. At first we were confused pulling out the contents but as the holograms appeared we understood.

"I am here as a projection!" shouted a familiar voice as I nearly dropped the hologram. It was All Might! "I came to this town to work for UA and I'm happy to say you passed, congratulations Tess!" I heard the voice boom through again and grinned at the sight of All Might himself praising me "You did fantastic at the exams..." All Might went on to explain the other grading involved with a panel of judges, rescue points. He put up the score board and my mouth dropped. I was listed in second place.
It can't be, did I really do that well?
I was just under some kid named Katsuki Bakugo and above a boy named Eijiro Kirishima.
"How'd you place?!" Mina shook me by my shoulder to try and get my attention but I only continued to stare at the hologram in pure shock. She gasped "YOU PLACED SECOND?!" She just stood there staring with me for a long moment and I could only slowly nod in reply.
She shoved me playfully with a wide grin "what the hell! You always talked about yourself as if your quirk was mediocre. I knew you were better than that" she laughed and slapped my back a few times.
I laughed back awkwardly and rubbed the back of my neck with my free hand, embarrassed by all the praise. Mina then added "we must be in the same class then! I'm in class 1-A" she flashed a wide grin and a peace sign. I looked over to her with wide eyes and couldn't help but pull her into a hug. This was everything I could have ever dreamed of!
