Adora and Catra were at their happiest. Married in a cottage of the cusp of The Whispering Woods.
Finn seems quiet. Since their eleventh birthday, something had been wrong.
Catra had even passed Finn's room before bed, nearly sure she'd heard them mid-weep.
"Please, I don't want to hear you cry."
Catra smiled slightly uncomfortable and closed the door.
As the days go by, Finn spends less time with their moms, stops playing with Melong, and seemed to be glued to their bed.
Still, they are quiet, so they must be okay.
A Sunday evening, Adora sets dinner on the table.
"Catra, would you call Finn to the kitchen for me?"
"Sure thing."
Catra knocks once on the bedroom door.
Twice.
"Finn? It's time for dinner."
A strange noise erupts from the other side of the door, a mix between a muffled gurgle and a sob.
"Is everything alright? I'm coming in."
"Momma, no!"
Catra nearly chips a nail picking at the doorknob."Dammnit! Adora, I need your help."
"What is it?"
"Finn's door is locked, I can't get them out."
"Entrapta must have installed one of her robotic locks. Even I don't know the passcode."
"We never needed a passcode before. Watch this."
With full strength, Catra rammed her body at the wood, taking to the door to the ground.
Finn looks to their moms, before turning back to the wall. They are violently shaking, taking sharp inhales before clasping a hand over their lips.
"Baby, what's wrong?"
"Get out of my room!"
"It's time for-"
"I don't care. You don't wanna hear me anyways."
"Is this about earlier? I only said that because I didn't want you to cry. Of course I want to listen to you." Catra sat on the twin bed.
"Is something going on? You know you call tell us anything." Adora took her wife's hand.
Finn sniffles for a while.
"I'm not strong like you Mom. Everything is just wrong and I cant ignore it."
"What do you mean?" Adora asks.
"The kids at my school pull at my ears and treat me like a monster. I never wanna go to school again!"
Catra bites her lip, pulling the child closer.
"C'mon Baby, it's okay. You're okay."
She looked down at the bundle in her lap, and tenses at crimson mixing into hair and fur atop Finn's head.
Finn, let me see your ears."
"Don't touch them!" They hiss.
"Oh my God." Catra feels the gashes behind and around her kid's cat ears.
"It's not so bad." Finn protests and tries to pull away.
"Does it hurt when I do this?' Catra feels for a particularly red spot.
"Ow. Ow! Stop! Stop!"
She dropped her hands, sick to her stomach
"Did the kids do this? I'm going to-"
"It was me."
"What?" She practically screams. Finn curls into Adora's side.
"When the other kids were picking on me, they said I looked just like you. If I cut the ears off, I'd look more like Momma and they'd leave me alone."
Adora shook her head, staring at Catra , back to Finn. Despite the terror , it was true. Adora put Finn onto her hip and hoisted them up to carry.
She tried to suppress her nausea.
"Let's get you bandaged up."
