“Is there any thing else we need to discuss here at the Council of Alphas meeting this time?” Said the Alpha of the whole city of Augusta, Maine, he stood proud and tall at the podium he was talking at, addressing all the other state alphas, including my father. Every six months, they hold one of these meetings, they discuss: boundary lines that need to be redrawn; Omegas needing a new pack to live with; if there were rogues threaten attack; a change in power, like when my father passes his title on to me and other things like that. I was excited about going to this meeting as soon as I found my mate; I would get to be Alpha it was going to be an exciting change from just being the “Future Alpha”. I watched as my father stood up, dusting off his suit, he always had to wear one or he wasn’t comfortable, I swear. My father was a lawyer on top of being the Alpha of Nahele and being a parent, it was a tough job when you had a set of twins that didn’t get along. Melissa and I never saw eye to eye because I was always picking on her friend, Elijah and I got special treatment for being the next Alpha. Missy could never accept the fact that I liked Elijah enough, there was just something about him that made me want to like him but I couldn’t. It wasn’t the fact I wasn’t gay, I would be anything that the Goddess wanted me to be but I won’t date someone because then I would have to leave them for my mate.

“I have word, that rogues have entered into our state and I have reason to believe they have killed two of my pack members.” My father spoke in the tone he always uses, the one that held authority and just makes people want to listen to him, he said it’s an Alpha thing but I think it is just something he is good with. “We are not asking for help right now, I am sure I can deal with this problem, I just wanted to warn everyone because rogues can be dangerous as I am sure all of you know.” Every Alpha shook their heads, rogues were the untouchables of the werewolf society, they were werewolves that: didn’t have a mate; killed their mate; were murders in general; caused too much problems with the humans or wanted too much power, that a pack could not give them. They traveled in nomadic groups, never staying in one place too long and they only attacked a pack for dominance of their city or town. The beta of our pack was murdered and his wife, we were lucky they did not force their son, Marcus (My future beta) with them or our pack would be in danger. It was a shame Marcus had to lose his parents, he still hasn't gotten over it and he rarely talks to me about it anymore, which upset me to a point. We are best friends, how could we not be, we were made to be by the Goddess. We use to do everything together from football to doing patrol in our wolf form, now I can barely get a few sentences out of him because I “don’t” understand what he is going through. Which in a way, is true, both of my parents are alive and kicking but it doesn’t mean I don’t care about him. I don’t know what it is like to have to lose your parents in such a horrible way and forced to live with a grandmother, who wanted nothing to do with me because she lost her only daughter. I can sympathize with him though, isn’t that what friends are suppose to do if they don’t have a clue how they feel, they try their damned hardest to comfort them.

“If you don’t want any of our help, then why did you bring it up during the meeting? It seems like a mute point.” One of the Alphas spoke up, breaking me from my thoughts; I think he was the Alpha of Portland. All the alphas nodded their heads in agreement as they turned to my father and gave them his full attention, waiting for his answer.

“I wanted to warn you all, I do not wish for anyone else’s pack to have to go through what mine is going through. The two members I lost, one of them was my beta, we had been together our whole lives. You know that though, you all have betas, you know that they are designed by the Goddess to be our right hand man.” My father sighed unhappily, Brian (Marcus’ father) was his best friend, they could read each other’s minds like no one else I ever knew. “I don’t want other innocent, good werewolves to die because of these rogues, just please, warn your packs and keep an eye out.” All the Alphas nodded their heads, agreeing with the words my lawyer father had spoken, betas were important to Alphas. My father sat back down next to me as The Head of the Council stood up again (The Alpha of Augusta, since it is the capital of Maine), moving towards his podium.
