Hey, don't cry

"Hey" Ruel said in a quiet tone, as he held my hand, making me calm. At first I couldn't remember why I was at a hospital, but then I did. Big fat tears fell down my cheeks as I realized what had happened. I couldn't believe that Bea- Benjamin had done that to me. I thought we were best friends.

"Hey, hey, hey, don't cry" Ruel whispered wiping my tears away, before gently stroking my hair. "Do you remember what happened?" he asked, once I had calmed down a bit. I didn't speak, I just nodded my head, I don't think I would've been able to say anything. I made a tight face expression as the right side of my body was throbbing with pain.

"Everything hurts" I spoke in a raspy voice, barely getting the words out. "It hurts Ruel" I cried out, my tears once again falling down my cheeks. "Schhh" Ruel comforted me, gently stroking my hair again and wiping my tears again. "It'll be okay" he comforted me. "I'm sorry" I pouted looking up at his eyes. "No, don't apologize, you didn't do this, Benjamin did" Ruel said in a firm voice.

"It's just-" I was cut off, by myself because it got hard to breathe. "Just take it slow, will ya?" he requested, I nodded my head. "Do you want me to get a doctor or nurse, so you can get some painkiller?" he asked me. I nodded once again. "Okay I'll be right back" he gave me a faint smile, before he left.

And just as he said, he was right back with a nurse, I think, at his side. "You should really be thankful for your friend here, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have been able to give you the right care" she smiled at me, as she put something into that IV drop thing, you get. "Is it just saline solution?" I asked the nurse. "Yeah, and now some painkiller, for your coming headache and your pain in your right side" she smiled kindly. "Thank you" I tried to smile back. "Oh hun you don't have to smile" she chuckled, before leaving again.

"Ruel?" I asked him, after I hadn't been able to stop thinking about what the nurse said, what did she mean by "You should really be thankful for your friend here, if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have been able to give you the right care" ?

"Yeah?" he asked shaking himself out of his light slumper. "What did the nurse mean by ' if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have been able to give you the right care'?" I asked him, making his cheeks go a bit red. "Don't be mad" he whispered as the first thing. "I won't" I promised him.

"Annie and Vic didn't want to tell the nurses what had really happened, since it'd get Benjamin in trouble, so they told them that you had fallen and hit your head" he explained. "But since you weren't waking up, and the nurses and doctors started to get worried, I told them what really happened, I'm sorry, if you didn't want me too"

"No Ruel, it's good that you did, what if he was to do it to someone else?" I asked him, grabbing his hand. "But why are you here all alone?" I asked too many questions at this point. "Cause they wanted to go home, so I stayed" he told me. "Thank you so much, you don't know how much it means you stayed" I thanked him. "My friends are so terrible, I don't even wanna call them friends anymore" I sobbed. "Well, I'm really not gonna argue with that, sorry" he admitted, making me chuckle a little bit.

"Ruel you must be tired, if you help me, move to the side, you can come up here" I offered patting the bed. "Well I didn't imagine the first time we'd get in bed together to be this" he joked as he helped me move over, and then joined me. "It'll do" he then added with a wink. I just shook my head, before resting it back on my pillow.

"You can sleep for a bit" I heard Ruel say, before I drifted off.

"Ruel" I woke up to the sound of voices. "Schhh mum not that loud, she's asleep" I heard Ruel whisper, which made me snuggle further into his side. "Ruel-" she started out again, this time whispering. "I brought some food for you" she told him. "And her" she added, I could sense Ruel sitting up in the bed, making me groan, since the way I was laying changed, and my ribs started hurting.

I slowly opened my eyes, met with a half dark room. "Hey" Ruel smiled as my eyes met his. "What time is it?" I asked in my very hoarse voice. "It's 7 something AM" Ruel answered. I nodded before going back to laying fully down, since my body started hurting again. Oh fuck his mom was here.

"Oh and hi Ruel's mom" I said as loud as I could, resulting in me coughing. "Nice" I rolled my eyes at myself. "Hi Maisy" she just chuckled at me. "I actually got both of you food" she then added. "Oh you shouldn't have" I smiled, not that she could see it, since Ruel was sitting in front of me, so she couldn't see me.

"Wait, Ruel?" I asked. "Mhhh" he just said, as he looked after something on his side of the bed. "Is my phone here?" I asked him. "I think I might need to call my parents" I added, making him nod his head. "It's right here" he handed me, my phone. "Thank you" I smiled gratefully.

"Oh god, I feel like I'm being such a burden, but can you help me sit up?" I asked Ruel, feeling extremely embarrassed. "Hey it's okay hun, we'll help you" Ruel's mom cut in, walking towards the other side of me, to help me sit up. "If you hold her, I'll put the pillows up" she told Ruel, and he of course did as told. "Thank you" I blushed.

"And thank you for the food..." I trailed off, not knowing her name. "Kate, my name is Kate" she smiled softly, as she pulled a chair towards Ruel's side of the bed, and put a bag of McDonalds up there. "Okay so I didn't know what you liked Maisy, so I hope you like Mcmuffins with bacon and cheese" she smiled. "It's fine with me" I chuckled pushing some of my hair out of my face.
