Come Back to Me

It's been 10 years since the day that Diavolo waited with Dainara. And he can't accept the fact that Lucifer will never come back to him. It's like he's living in a nightmare. He already passed the crown to his daughter and wasted away.

He was drunk everyday and only Dainara was there to keep him in check.
"You're drunk again Diavolo." She tried to help him back in his room.

"Ju-st a bit." He said slurrying. He really pushed himself this time was all Dainara could say as she dumped the redhead on his bed. He was really drunk and even threw up on his clothes.

"I'll ask Barbatos to clean you up." She told him.
"He's king now. How could you ask that of him. Ask another." He said obviously still drunk.
"He still comes whenever I ask him to. Unless he's very busy." She tells him. Another servant was brought in to change Diavolo's clothes then she got out of there.

After a while the servant came back to her and reported that Diavolo was sick. This troubled her. Demons can't get sick right?

She went to Barbatos to ask him of this detail. He wasn't anywhere to be seen. Where could he be? As she looked around she bumped into Abbadon. Lucifer and Diavolo's daughter.

Dainara's pov:

"Dainara! You're looking for Barbatos? He's in the throne room." She smiled and I was puzzled. I checked a while ago but he wasn't there.
"O...Kay? Thanks." I thanked her and went to where she told me.

And Barbatos was there.
"Oh... Dainara... What brings you here?" He asks.
"Do demons get sick?" I ask and he looked at me as if I grew three heads.
"No. What's the matter?"

"Diavolo's sick. But he's not that kind of sick. He's love sick." Barbatos smiled.
"But if he was love sick he should've been love sick the moment Lucifer left." I was puzzled.

"The truth is... Lucifer never left his side." I was shocked.
"What do you mean? I'm puzzled." I looked at him quizzically.
"Well... You'll know in the coming days. Anyways. He'll be fine. Human medicine will work on him." He smiled and went out of the room.

What could he mean by Lucifer never left his side? I wrecked my mind just to figure this out. I told the servants to watch over Diavolo.

He really took it hard. He can't accept that Lucifer will... never go back to him. As I was walking down the halls I saw the Previous King Daemon. Or he asks me to call him Uncle Daemon. It was funny. But he says he doesn't like to be addressed as Your Majesty anymore.

"Uncle Daemon." I addressed him.
"Dainara... What seems to be the problem?" He asked me. Even though time has passed it had been good to him and he never looked so old.

"You see... King Barbatos told me that Diavolo will be just fine." I truthfully told him.
"If everything will be fine I don't know what bothers you so." He said and arched his eyebrow.

"Well... You see... King Barbatos said that Diavolo was just love sick. And I was puzzled. If Diavolo was it should've happened years ago and it should've passed. What brings me to think so much about it is that he said Lucifer never left his side." I told him. Of course I was expecting a better answer from him.

"Ah yes... Barbatos has his own ways." He said. I was just more puzzled. He was talking in riddles.
"Don't worry Dainara. Barbatos will be able to handle this on his own. Everything will be alright." He said and smiled. The ones you rarely see on a very powerful and intimidating man.

"Now if you'll excuse me I want to see my great grandchild." He said and passed me. I just nodded as I walked in the room I stayed in.
Abbadon and Barbatos had their own children. Emma was their first born. So much like Barbatos. Except for the fact that she had Abbadon's black hair.

Lately Abbadon gave birth to their second born. It's been exactly 10 years since she gave birth. And it was hard for her since she didn't have the parent to support her with her pregnancy.

Lucifer was not here and Diavolo was always looking for his beloved so he wasn't actually as present as his father was when the baby was still in Abbadon.

Their second born is a bouncy baby boy. They named him Apollyon. Apollyon had his father's face and eyes. But had black hair.

Uncle Daemon even joked that Lucifer's hair was very strong in the second generation.
Apollyon was a very cheerful baby boy. He loved everyone and touched their hearts. Even the brothers.

Asmo had a blast with the two children. He already gave them new clothes and designer shoes.

I sighed. If only Lucifer can see these things.

When I decided to visit Polly (Apollyon) I was shocked to see a shadow like figure looming over the small crib in the middle of the room. I was really ready for a fight if someone dared to hurt him.

But when the figure turned to look at me I was relieved, shocked and overwhelmed with happiness.
"Lucifer..." I whispered and he gave me a sad smile.

"It's been a while Dainara."

I stood there as if I was a statue and tears came down my eyes as I looked at him.

"Where have you been? Pridey McPrideface?" I joked to at least hide the tears of happiness that I had. He just smiled and asked me to come forward.

"It's been years. And so much have changed." He told me.
"Yes. Abbadon have children now. Barbatos is king. Your father in law just wanna be called uncle." I laughed.

"I love my grandchildren. Am I that old already?" He asked me.
"No. You're not old. Your father in law is. And he doesn't look a day over forty."

"I wish I didn't drink that. I wish I just waited for him to calm down." He said which made me sad.
"Hey... Don't be like that. You're alright and you're with us now. Come back to us Luci."

"I can't. Something is stopping me from doing it. It's like... This isn't where I'm supposed to be." He told me.

"Is it your pride?" I asked.
"Dainara... I've lost my avatar status when I had my children. You see... They're more important than anything else."

"Then... What is?"

"I don't know. But if this is how things should be then I accept it. It was the consequence of my action. I love everyone. Even Diavolo. It took me 60 years to realize I can forgive him."

"Is that the message you want me to convey?" I ask.
"Yes. Well... It's the only thing I want them to remember about me." It hurt that Lucifer might not come back. As in never. But this was how it's supposed to be.

Everyone learned how to live without him. Someday even Diavolo will.

His transparent figure smiled at me and told me that everything will be alright. Even without him in the picture.

I smiled as he bit by bit and slowly disappeared into the darkness.

I look at the new generation of demons. All of them were happy and running around like a bunch of party animals. Desiree and Fiona Caim and Desdemona's daughters already have grandchildren.

Diavolo haven't remarried since Lucifer finally found eternal peace and he himself made peace with the fact that Lucifer will never come back to him.

A big and grand tomb was prepared for Lucifer alone. Diavolo went there everyday. Lucifer's body was preserved and looked as if he was only sleeping. He still apologizes for what happened to them and wishes that he was there.

I knew because I always followed him. Now that everything is alright I myself planned to go back to the human world. No matter how immortal I become I wasn't a demon so technically I belong in the human world.

Diavolo let me go back and was thankful for the fact that I always stayed by their side.

I sighed and left that very day. I will always come back for a visit. I've spent decades here but I surely missed home.
