Autumn's POV:

"You, Justin Portnow, are hereby under arrest for the murder of Frank and Julie Smith" I told the suspect as Superintendent Connor Brown was cuffing him.

Two officers then escorted him to their car and drove off.

"And that's forty-nine..." I told myself as I wrote it in my chronicle.

"Well, you did it again, Miss Sanders" Superintendent Brown told me. "We couldn't have done it without you".

"Happy to help, Superintendent Brown" I replied.

"Well, that's all we have for tonight" Superintendent Brown told the rest of the force. "We can rest easy for now".

Most of the officers including Superintendent Brown drove off in their cars.

"So, tallying up the cases, huh?" an officer asked me.

"Always got to keep track, Drew" I replied.

That's Andrew Lewis, the youngest officer of my police precinct at twenty years old. He has short black hair, brown eyes and fair skin. He's at least six inches taller than me and I'm only four feet and eleven inches. He usually wears his officer uniform with the left side tucked in his pants instead of both sides.

"Well, good work today" he told me as he ruffled my hair.

"Hey! I'm not a kid, you know!" I told him.

"Eh, don't think so" he mused. "You're still a teenager".

"True..." I replied. "But I solved more cases than you".

"That's debatable!" he said.

"Really?" I asked. "How many cases did you solve?".

"Um, well, uh..." he said and started counting with his fingers.

"Well?" I asked him. "How many?".

"Okay, you got me there..." Drew groaned in defeat.

"That's what I thought" I said. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go home".

"I'll drive you there" Drew suggested.

"I don't think that's necessary" I told him.

"Come on, it's dark out here, you could get hurt or something" Drew said. "And you know that everyone knows who you are".

"Well..." I thought. "Fine, just this once, okay?".

"Fine by me" Drew replied.

I then got into Drew's car and he proceeded to drive me back to my house. It was a ten minute drive so it was kind of boring.

Then Drew started talking.

"Hey, you know something?"

"What?" I asked.

"That you know that... you already have a girlfriend... and... you're just seventeen" Drew said.

"Okay... what about Elly?" I asked.

"How did that happen?" he asked.

"I actually don't know. We started off as friends but something happened to her and I'm the only one that stuck by her so... we just took it to the next level..." I answered.

"I wish I was as lucky as you" Drew sighed.

"Well, that's never going to happen" I told him.

"Ouch" he simply said. "I felt that in my chest".

"Better call a doctor" I told him.

"Wow, I never thought that you could be this cold" Drew pouted.

"I could if I had to" I answered.

"Well, you don't have to..." he said as he looked at me.

That made me look at him and I looked at the road and he was about to hit something. I warned him and he darted his eyes to the road and focused on driving. We were breathing heavily because we almost hit something.

"Eyes on the road, idiot!" I told him. "You almost got us killed!"

"Sorry, sorry..." he apologised.

After a few minutes after that, we got back to my house. It was a normal manor that my dad owns, since he's a duke and all.

"Here's my stop" I told Drew and he stopped the car.

I stepped out of the car and I thanked him for the ride home.

"Anytime" he replied and he drove off.

I then walked to my front door and opened it. And the first thing I heard...

"Welcome home!"

My dad then went to hug me.

"Hey dad, good to be back..." I replied.

My dad is Rowland Sanders, Duke of Newcastle. He's been looking out for me for a long time since I was born. He was overprotective about my safety but he accepted to make my own decision since I became a detective for the police. He was wearing his usual brown suit and he had short brown hair and fair skin.

"So how was the case, detective?" he asked me. "Did you catch the culprit?".

"Yeah, dad. We did catch up to him" I answered. "He's going to be locked away for a long time...".

Then I let out a yawn because it was very late.

"Oh, you sound tired, Autumn" my dad said. "Maybe you should get some rest".

"Yeah, I had a long day today..." I replied.

"Okay, good night" my dad told me and he left to do the last bit of his work in his office.

I then went upstairs to my room and I opened the light.

My room was organised, as it should be. The walls were in a nice shade of beige and there are stuffed animals scattered across the room. The highlight of the stuffed animals is a brown stuffed bear holding a heart. That is a gift from my girlfriend, Elizabeth Davis. There were several closets and a television mounted on the wall.

I took off my trenchcoat and hung it up with a clothes hanger. I then put on my nightwear. It was just beige pajamas; the top being a long-sleeved polo and the bottom was just beige pants. Both of these were patterned with white cats.

I then layed on my bed and I thought about texting Elizabeth goodnight. So I took my phone and I opened up our text conversation. Our usual conversations were how my day was, how was she and with an 'I love you' at the end of it.

I know she's still awake since she told me she can't sleep without me saying goodnight.

(Note: right is Autumn's text, left is Elizabeth's)

Hey, Elly

Hey, Autumn

How's work?

It's been fine

We finally caught the suspect

Woah, that's amazing!

It's just another day at the office

How many is that now?

Forty-nine?

I'm glad you're keeping track

It's what I do

Just be careful, okay?

I always am

Goodnight

Goodnight

I love you

I love you too

I put my phone away on top of my bedside cabinet and I put my red rounded square glasses there too, beside my phone. I got myself cozy on the bed and I slowly went to sleep.
