Marinette Dupain-Cheng didn't have an ordinary childhood.

At the age of 15, she had been diagnosed with a rare type of amnesia. She had waken up realizing that she had forgotten her entire life.

She had spended 2 years in hospital after her memory loss. Doctors couldn't comprehend what was wrong with her. Usually, amnesia involved a person forgetting portions of their life but in her case it was very different...

She did not have a single memory from the first 15 years in her life. It was as if all her memories had been erased somehow. Like magic.

Her first 5 years in memory were difficult. She had spent them homeschooling and trying to recognize items and people.

Amnesia wasn't like how it was portrayed in movies. It was very difficult to cope. It was a series of feelings and events where she was constantly trying to figure out the people around her, constantly trying to figure out who she was.

There were multiple people who supported her. Multiple people. Her parents, friends, teachers, doctors and nurses. They were all their constantly supporting her, and they always tried their best to remind her who she was. She was grateful for all the care she got. She was grateful that she had so many amazing people in her life who wanted to help her.

However, it was really difficult to remember without the memory.

After multiple trials of trying to understand life, she...never got her answer. She understood that life never gives you what you're hoping for, and rather than roaming around, trying to question it. Sometimes, it was best to go with the flow.

Marinette was much more productive in the next 5 years of her life, she bonded with her friends, parents, picked up an interest in fashion and sewing that she apparently always had even before her memory loss.

She had to admit that she still went through many ups and downs despite the fact she was striving hard for something. Getting into a fashion school and maintaining her position in it wasn't easy, considering the fact that she was an amnesiac.

Despite her talent, she was always judged for being an amnesiac. Students and teachers would compliment her work but they would never encourage it any further as the were afraid that she would forget and all her potential would go down the drain. They said the fashion industry was a high demanding one. An amnesiac designer wasn't a good look.

But to be fair, she had only lost her memory once and it was a huge blow of her entire life. They would've obviously been scared that it could happen to her again. However, just because she was diagnosed with some rare type of amnesia, it didn't mean that they had to discourage her from living life.

Despite all their remarks, in the big picture, she didn't give up. Yes. She had met many of her low points and was on the verge of giving up. But she didn't.

She did strive her way to the top finding the right people to help her.

And here she was, famous designer of the brand: DC Fashions. She didn't think it would be possible. But it had. In the first time of her amnesiac ten years of life, these 2 years were happy years. Filled with purpose and meaning.

The message she sent to the world was huge.

Even when the whole world was against you, it was important to never give up, to keep fighting, no matter what.

To her, an amnesiac designer was her only look.

Was she happy?  Yes.
