Dahae's POV

"What was that!? Are you looking to get fired!?" The manager roared at me and the other waiter to whom Boyoung bumped into as we both had our heads lowered.

His angry remarks about what I did today gradually culminated into my performance as a waitress overall. However, It's pretty difficult to take him seriously when his mind is full of thoughts of his wife.

I'm two seconds away from puking.

Unexpectedly, Joohyun abruptly stepped infront of me, acting as some sort of shield. "With all due respect, sir, Dahae only did what's right. Sure, a few customers got angry, but, in my opinion, that was worth it. Boyoung was about to get badly hurt so it was natural of Dahae to prevent any harm to her sister."

The manager seemed a bit taken aback. Not gonna blame him though, I was too.

He sighed and rubbed his temples, irked. "Alright, I'll let you off the hook for now. But be more careful next time. I don't want to see this happen again. And you." He averted his piercing gaze to the bespectacled employee beside me. "Get better glasses."

Sheesh.

Sheesh.

Sheesh.

Sheesh.

As the crowd dispersed, I let out a long sigh and glances at the clock. 20 more minutes left. God take me back. A cheerful face appeared in front of my face before I could even take one step.

I stared at Joohyun's bright expression and huge eyes staring into mine. "Boyoung's hero~"

"My hero~" Boyoung cheered.

I grunted and stomped away, only to have the two follow me like a bunch of chicks. "Come on, Dahae, admit it, you love me for standing up for you like that."

"Wasn't she cool, unnie?" Boyoung added.

"That was unnecessary, a little earful from the manager wasn't going to kill me." I asserted. His thoughts about his wife could have, though.

"But-"

"I have work to do." I cut her off, and marched away to pick up some trays of food to serve.

Joohyun simply stopped on her tracks and stared at me with saddened eyes and a weaker smile.

I thought surely that would've got her to smile. But I guess I was wrong.

I pursed my lips tightly and carried on with my work.

Jimin's POV

I sat silently on a table next to the window shining sunlight at me in the library, reading a book I discovered was a new romance novel. Don't get me wrong, the book is pretty lame and rushed, but I could never bring myself to stop reading a book midway even if I'm not very indulged in it.

There was something else on my mind.

That girl, Dahae. Her glare seemed to have stabbed needles into me for good. She looked at me as I was the most revolting human being on earth. But then again, I saw her look at everyone like that.

She seems...interesting. Irritation is probably the only emotion I'v ever seen on her. Those piercing sharp eyes, they seem so hollow and empty.

Why do I feel so intrigued by her?

I put the book down temporarily to fetch myself a cup of water from the water cooler next to the librarians desk. As I reached for the cup, the sweet old librarian noticed me.

"Your friend hasn't come back since." She mumbled to me.

"Huh?"

"The girl with the long black hair and spectacles. You know, that one?"

"Oh." I realized she was talking about Dahae.

I suddenly recalled her dabbing medicine onto my cuts, as cold as ice.

"Oh, no, we aren't really friends, more like acquaintances." I chuckled lightly.

"Don't."

I frowned.

Less than acquaintances, I guess.

"Ah, well, if you see her again, tell her to return the two books she borrowed." The librarian spoke.

I nodded and strolled back to my seat, a cup of water in my hands.

Dahae's POV

I stomped back home with my borrowed books, infuriated. He's there. In the library. And his thoughts are about me.

Why am I even this reluctant to encounter him again? Maybe because I don't want any attention from him. That incident from the restaurant was embarrassing enough. The fact that he has curious thoughts about me means he might approach me and try to talk to me if he saw me again.

Now what? I can't even go to the library on the one day I'm free? Kill me.

He seems like the type to annoy people by forcefully hanging around them. What is with outgoing people and clinging around other like chicks.
