Oh how am I going to get out of this? I think to myself. I have already promised myself to my love, my Juliet, but now she is gone, and I am being shipped off to be married tomorrow. Suddenly I jump up in glee. I could simply run away! Run away, find Juliet, and marry her, living happily in the elven homeland.
I quickly pack a few things and get dressed for the journey, before heading out by a side entrance, telling the guards that I am simply picking a few flowers that are not too far away from the castle walls and that I will be back in a bit. The guards, used to me doing these things, simply nod and say that if I am not back in a few minutes they will come looking for me. I nod back to them and hurry on my way, trying to get as far away from them as I can before they come looking.
Days later on my journey I finally come upon a large elven village, and see some of Juliet's guards outside an inn. I walk up to one of them and politely ask, "You are one of the Lady Juliet's guards correct? Can you take me to her?"
"Why do you want to see her?" He asks gruffly, eyeing me suspiciously.
"Because my name is Princess Raelynn and she promised me I would get married" I state proudly, making him nod in recognition and lead me to her.
As soon as I see Juliet I run towards her leaping into her arms, "My love, I have no time, we must get married before the Prince of Slegia comes to take me back to the castle and marry him"
" I understand my young Raelynn, come I am friends with the Elder of this village, and she will be able to perform the ceremony." She says, kissing me lightly before leading me to a simple church in the center of the village. There, Elder Laimora happily married us, hoping that our bond would lead to the closing of the divide between humans and elves.
I kiss Juliet again, opening my heart to her and filling it with all the love and belonging we share together, before dragging her to bed, tired after my long journey. She smiles at me and nods, laying down next to me as we both peacefully go to sleep.
However, the next morning we quickly wake up to the sounds of screaming villagers and angry humans. Juliet shakes me fully awake urgently before telling me to get dressed, which she also does before we both go outside to face the destruction and terror reigning down on the village. When we step outside I gasp as I see Prince Premur himself alongside a number of guards, cutting down any elf that refuses to get out of their way.
"Princess Raelynn!" He calls out when he sees me stepping into the street, "You have been accused of treason by your father, King Caspian, and myself, for refusing our marriage and joining the elves, our known enemy!"
"I will not come with you just to be hanged Prince, and I would never leave my love to marry you!" I scream at him, terrified, but unwilling to back down. Juliet holds my hand tightly, silently promising that we will stay together no matter what happens
"Then you shall die here alongside the elven hag you love so dearly. Guards!" He yells out, and the guards come toward us, aiming mostly to capture me and kill my love. As a guard thrust his sword forward in an attack meant to kill Juliet I lunge in front of her, taking the sword to the heart instead.
I watch as the love of my life releases a fatal burst of magic in rage as she sees my crumple to the ground, dying. The magic easily kills the guards and jealous prince as she kneels down next to me crying over my bleeding body. I only wish I still had the strength to speak to her, comfort her as I die, leaving her and going against our promise to be together always.
"Raelynn, you will not die alone. I will not let you leave me here, forever alone without you." She sobs, reaching for the belt knife of a fallen human. "Here, with this I kill myself, and join you for forever in the next life." She cries, silent once more, and with my last breath I watch as she stabs the dagger through her own heart, and crumples to the ground beside me.
