When Love Wins

Chapter X

Chase woke up slowly and he turned when he realized his wife wasn't snuggled up close to him and he looked at the beautiful woman curled up around a pillow close to the wall. He moved a little closer and kissed her cheek before he tucked her hair in behind her ear. "Are you going to stay where it is nice and warm today?"

Luna nodded and she took the baby bottle from the corner and handed it to him.

"Don't you think you should let him breastfeed for the benefit it has to both of you?" Chase asked and he kissed her head when she shook her head and then went and showered and got ready to go to work. He kissed his wife's ear when he was ready to leave and then pulled the duvet up. "I love you."

"Love you more." Luna said softly.

Chase smiled and he gave her another kiss and then took his phone and the bottle of milk from the cabinet and he lifted his sleepy son out of the cot. "Hey sleepy bug, are we going to ask nana to watch you today? Mommy isn't feeling well."

Ruan squealed and he gave his dad a baby kiss.

"Thank you, little guy." Chase said and he held his son over the bed and smiled when the little boy did the same for his mommy.

"Hey monkey." Luna said softly and she turned a little and gave her son a kiss. "I love you, Ruan Colton."

Ruan squealed and he placed his fingers in his mouth.

Chase smiled and he turned his son around and had him sit on his hip before he threw the baby bag over his shoulder. "I'll see you tonight, lovey."

Luna nodded and she buried her face into the pillow again.

Chase smiled and he kissed his son's cheek and then went downstairs and felt relieved when he saw his mom was awake already. "Hey mom."

"Hey." Sephira said and she kissed his cheek and then took Ruan when the little hand shot out at her. "You don't care about sticking with daddy when you can see muffins, hey young man."

Chase smiled and he placed the baby bag and the baby bottle on the counter. "Luna is having a down day, I think there are some girly hormones throwing her around again this week, but she is in a mood where she doesn't want to get out of bed."

"They don't happen often so it's okay." Sephira said and she placed his lunch bag in front of him. "Dad left early, and so I made enough for you as well."

"Thanks mom." Chase said and he kissed his son's head and then left.

"Are we going to bake some cookies today, Ruan?" Sephira asked and she got some stuff from the pantry and then placed her grandson in his chair and gave him some soft fruits and yogurt before she got started on baking cookies. She enjoyed having her kids come in and get breakfast before leaving with Evan, the whole time having this buzz of excitement around them before everything just went quiet as they left. She put Ruan in his pram for his nap after changing his diaper once he had finished his breakfast and then carried on with cookies, and she smiled when Joy came in around nine. "Hey honey."

"Hi mom." Joy said and she kissed her mom's cheek and then looked at Ruan. "Lu having a rough day?"

"Yeah." Sephira said and she made them some cinnamon milk and sat down at the counter with a plate of hot cookies. "Chase said he thinks she is having some girl hormones messing her around. Since she is irregular, she cannot really do a mental prep before it happens, and it always catches her off guard and usually when she needs it least."

"Yeah." Joy said and she took her jacket off and then hopped onto the counter and pulled her shirt up. "I just got back from the doctor, and Kaylo really wants to know what we are having, probably because his mom and Sarah have been communicating a lot about a baby shower and being the first grandbaby on that side, they have been buying a lot of stuff, and the expensive stuff, so I finally agreed to find out what the gender is. I know what it is, but I need a little help doing something to tell him, because since he wants to know so badly and I wasn't really keen on it, I am not going to just blurt it out like I don't care. I mean, I can do that at home and everyone goes mad because our family is open and communicates a lot, whereas Kaylo likes being surprised and the only reason I couldn't pull of a surprise pregnancy announcement for him, was because he came home with meds and stuff for me after I felt so really bleh that one day and tossed me a pregnancy tester and probably would have done it himself if I didn't drag myself out of bed, most probably because I was procrastinating about getting out of bed to go anyway, and he was so close, I had no time to just pull myself together to try and keep it a secret at least for a day or two to think up something."
