"No way!" JJ shouted across the house, storming away from Olivia.

She followed lazily, groaning. "Why not? It's just a party."

"A kook party!" JJ fired back, plopping down on John B's roll-out bed beside Kiara.

Pope and John B sat back with drinks in hand, indifferent. JJ, however, was clearly worked up.

"She's turning into a kook. I knew she shouldn't have gone to that stupid beach cleanup," JJ said, pointing at Olivia for emphasis, looking to Pope and John B for confirmation. They didn't respond.

"I shouldn't even have to ask for your permission!" Olivia yelled, tossing a pillow at him.

"I don't care! You're not going. End of story. You're not going full kook." JJ crossed his arms, staring straight into Olivia's brown eyes.

"Why are you treating me like a kook? I hang out with you guys for a reason!" Olivia gestured around John B's place. "Stop acting like I'm not part of this!"

"It's just a party, J," John B stepped in.

"What? Do you want to hang out with Rafe? I don't want to be around people who act all goody-two-shoes like kooks," JJ blurted without thinking.

Olivia froze. "Excuse me?"

"I said what I said," JJ replied, hands behind his head, legs crossed.

The other three watched, wide-eyed. They knew how much Olivia hated being called a kook.

"Fuck you, dude," Olivia muttered, laughing under her breath as she walked toward the door. "I strongly, strongly dislike you right now."

JJ exhaled heavily. "What the fuck," he mumbled.

"Yeah, what the fuck is right," John B said, setting down his beer and heading to the kitchen.

Olivia stormed back to her house, her anger bubbling. All she'd done was respect JJ, and yet he yelled at her over every decision she made.

Inside, she ran up to her room, changed into a swimsuit, threw a shirt and shorts over it, and grabbed her bag.

"You're coming?" Noah stepped into her open door.

"Yeah. You got a problem?" she snapped.

"Not at all," he chuckled. "Let's go."

The siblings drove to the Cameron household. Loud music blasted from the party. People danced, cheered with beers, did drugs on the lawn, or made out in chairs. Olivia felt uncomfortable.

"Hey man!" Noah called out to a friend. "Where's the alcohol?"

"Anywhere, dude," the guy said with a smile.

Olivia followed Noah into the kitchen, grabbed a beer, and twisted off the top.

"Woah, woah," Noah grabbed the bottle. "What are you doing?"

"Drinking," she said, taking it back. She needed to numb her mind after the argument with JJ.

"That's right!" Noah's friend cheered. Noah chugged his own beer, impressed but not surprised. Olivia had hung out with the Pogues enough to know how to hold her own.

"Where's Sarah?" Olivia asked, midway through her drink.

"She's outside with Topper," Noah said. Sarah had just jumped into the pool from the roof.

"Great," Olivia muttered, pushing through the crowd-until someone grabbed her wrist.

"Hey, you came," Rafe said, smiling down at her. "I didn't expect to see you here."

"Yeah, I came," Olivia said, smiling politely.

"I've got some stuff," Rafe said, holding up a bag of cocaine. "You joining us?"

Olivia looked at the bag, her stomach twisting. Before she could respond, Rafe was already pulling her over to his group. Sarah and Topper were gone, so she sat beside Rafe at a table with his friends.

"Guys, this is my good friend Olivia," Rafe said, placing a hand on her lower back.

"She's your Midsummers date!" one friend exclaimed, shaking hands.

"She is," Rafe said, leading her to the couch.

He laid out the cocaine and hit a dab. Everyone cheered. Olivia watched, uneasy, as the circle moved closer to her turn.

"Noah! Come join us!" Rafe waved.

"Got some goods?" Noah sat down.

"Yup, even your sister joined us," Rafe said, looking at Olivia. "Speaking of which, it's your turn, sweetheart."

Olivia cringed at the pet name, stomach tightening. She had never done cocaine. JJ had, but he never forced her. Rafe's persistence made her uneasy.

"Come on," he urged.

Someone shouted, "Let's go! Or I'll take it!"

Before Olivia could decide, Topper walked past. "Hey everyone, this is Top. He goes overload. What were you last year?"

"I was... top seven in nationals," Topper finished.

Olivia scanned for Sarah-she wasn't by the pool or Topper. Frustrated, she tried to walk away.

"Where are you going? Aren't you going to hit that?" Rafe grabbed her wrist, pulling her back.

"No! Topper, where's Sarah?" she tried to pull free.

"Doesn't matter," Topper said, sitting where she had been.

"Join us. It's your turn," Rafe forced her onto his lap.

"Rafe, let me go!" she stood, struggling.

"Rafe, stop," Noah said, stepping in. "She doesn't want to do it."

Olivia brushed herself off and ran to find Sarah. She felt uneasy; JJ had been right-she shouldn't have come.

Finally, she found Sarah on a small balcony, staring at the stars.

"Hey. I was looking for you," Olivia said, sitting beside her.

"Hey," Sarah mumbled, not looking away from the sky.

"You okay? Topper's with Rafe now," Olivia said.

"I gave him permission," Sarah said quietly.

"You... did?" Olivia stammered. They had always made bets about who would lose their virginity first. Olivia had won, but she hadn't expected Sarah to give in so soon.

"I chickened out," Sarah admitted.

"That's okay. You don't have to be upset. Whenever you're ready," Olivia smiled. When she noticed Sarah's frown, her smile dropped. "Are you okay? Did Topper get mad?"

"Yeah, he did. He's a stomper," Sarah sighed. "We were fine, but once it got to it-I just couldn't."

"You don't have to be upset. He should understand," Olivia said, putting an arm around Sarah's shoulder.

"I know, but I keep thinking I'm ready," Sarah said, rubbing her face. "God, I'm such an idiot."

"You're not an idiot," Olivia reassured her.

"How did it feel?" Sarah finally asked, looking at her.

Olivia chuckled, hugging her knees. "It was good. I kinda wish I waited though... I barely knew him. I just saw him around because of John B."

"Right. JJ," Sarah chuckled.

"Yeah, crazy, I know. Now, no pogue on pogue macking," Olivia muttered, thinking back to JJ's anger.

"I honestly don't even know about Topper," Sarah said.

"What do you mean?" Olivia asked.

"I don't know. It's whatever, I guess," Sarah shrugged. "Guess it's too soon to talk."

"Either way, you'll find the one. He's coming around, I promise," Olivia said
