It's been eleven years since I met the voice in my head, the demon, Lucifer. Him and I still talk, he says he loves me. I broke up with him a week after he asked me out. He asked me out again three years ago, I said no. I said no because I wanted someone who could actually be seen by everyone. I don't want people to think I'm crazy. Thinking I'm dating an 'imaginary friend'. I work at a coffee shop, and I'm in university training to be a teacher. I leaned over and with my left elbow on the counter and my left cheek resting in my left hand, my right arm resting on the counter, like it is lifeless. I was waiting for customers to come and buy coffee, well it is really early in the morning. They should come in maybe thirty minutes, something like that anyways.
I yawned and I saw Lucifer laying down on a table, sleeping. He told me no matter what he does, he can't get disconnected from me, yes we had a few fights at times, sometimes I would punch him, but he never laid a finger on me, except for that one time when I saw him for the first time, I mean, I could tell, he was still dwelling on that moment, I forgave him. I mean, he forgot I was raped, but that's okay, I mean, we all make mistakes. I smiled as I watched him sleep. I really don't know what I would do without him. But I knew one day, I would lose him. Because I can tell the future, he is going to be able to make himself visible to everyone just so he can be with me. But, after that day, when I wake up, he will be gone. It saddens me to know that I will lose my annoying little cute demon.
"Excuse me, hello? Miss, are you alright?" A guy in a suit asked me, I snapped out of my thoughts and stood up straight. "S-Sorry!" I looked at him and his eyes met mine, I blushed and so did he, his mouth open a bit from shock. He smiled, "it's Jack, and I would like your number miss..?" He asked, "Lily", I replied, I then wrote down my number on a piece of paper and slid it over to him with my finger tips. He touched the paper to grab it with my fingers still on it, that's when I saw it. My eyes went wide and I smiled softly, "you will do just fine at your interview", I said. Jack's eyes widened and he stared at me. "How did you know...? And I would like green tea with peppermint and honey please", he put the paper in his pocket. I leaned over and whispered, "lucky guess", I grinned.
I started making what he asked for and Jack stood there shocked. "That's pretty cool, guessing things like that", he seemed like he admired me, but truly, it's not really a gift. I walked back and put the tea on the counter, "that'll be four dollars and twenty five cents, and thanks haha", I giggled knowing that it's not something to be laughing about. He took out a five dollar bill and placed it on the counter, "you're welcome, and I'll call you later, we could hang out, and keep the extra change", he leaned in closer and whispered in my ear, "sweetie". He then grabbed his tea and walked out as he waved goodbye to me. I then sighed being totally lustful towards him, that's when Lucifer woke up. "Good morning, Lily", Lucifer said as he sat up and stretched.
I put the change in the cash register and I put the extra change in my pocket. Lucifer walked over to me and behind the counter, he hugged me from behind. "Hey stop, we aren't together", I said, he pulled me closer, his arms, holding me with so much care, even though his muscles show clearly, you would expect him not to be so nice. "Come on baby, nobody is here anyway, and plus they can't see me", he said and he pressed his crotch into my butt, causing me to moan. "Don't call me that", I said and I turned around as I pushed him away. "Sorry", he said, I yawned and nodded my head as a 'it's okay' because he knows me too well, I mean, he does know what I'm thinking at all times. The day went by as I served customers, making money and then it was the evening, seven o'clock. My working here is done for the day.
I took off my apron and grabbed my bag, I then left the shop locking it up. My phone vibrated in my pocket, I answered, "hello?" "Lily? It's me, Jack", he replied. "Oh hey!" I said excitedly, even though it probably didn't sound that excited. "Guess what? I got the job!" He sounded extremely happy, "good for you!" I replied. I smiled knowing that he was so proud of what he has done today. He laughed and I walked down the street, "so you doing anything tonight? I would like to get to know you better", he said, "no, I'm free tonight, we could go for dinner or something", I said, suggesting ideas that might or might not happen. "Dinner sounds great, meet me at Earl's in thirty minutes? And don't worry about paying, I have money", he replied, "okay see you then, bye", we both hung up and I put my phone in my pocket, Lucifer followed me and he gave me a dirty look. "What?" I asked, "good luck", Lucifer said, and I know that he said that I could only see him in my room, well he got stronger so that I could see him anywhere and everywhere I went and let me tell you, it kind of gets annoying at times.
