The Ocean

It is as deep and as mystifying as the ocean, soft like the shores the waves slide over and harsh like the rocks they crash into. As sure as the rise and fall of the tides, as uncertain and damaging as a hurricane. It can be clear and see-through as well as dark and frightening. Inside there are fish and beautiful shells, but there are also shipwrecks and bodies. In some parts shallow, in some parts it is not yet known just how deep it goes. The warnings of riptides are well known, but it is still easy to be pulled away from the sandy beaches and to the deep sea. Swimming when there is no lifeguard on duty means no one to pull you free from the vastness you are being sucked into. Fighting a seemingly endless battle to pull yourself free and defeat is constantly looming, but you know that your friends are waiting for you along the shore. Storm clouds threaten to make things worse and the depths reach for your feet, but the sun beckons to you in a sharp, beautiful contrast. Which one will win? Whose pull is stronger?
