As I walk into my office, I write a mental note of things to buy for Giselle's birthday party on Saturday. She turns 5 on Saturday. We have kind of a birthday tradition. We go by Adrianna's grave in the morning and drop flowers. I try my best not to think of Giselle's birthday as the day Adrianna died but as the day she gave me the greatest gift life has to offer.

"Good morning, Gaby"

Sophie, my partner and long time friend, walks in as she greets.

"Hi, Sophie. Someone is extra happy today". I say as I notice her radiant smile as she does a dramatic swirl.

" Guess what?"

"What?" I ask excitedly.

"I am pregnant!" she exclaims

"Oh my God" I move to hug her. Sophie and her husband, Damien, have been trying to have a child since forever

"I feel like I am on cloud nine" she happily says.

I sit her down on the couch and sit next to her.

"As happy as I am. I am a teeny-weeny bit scared".

" why would you be?" I ask.

"I mean, I really don't know what to expect. What if I do something wrong?. I am not a natural like you. Giselle is so lucky to have you.

" I am lucky to have Giselle" I correct her

"Don't sell yourself short. You are the most amazing person I have ever met. If I were a man, I would be doing nothing but hit on you every single chance I get".

We both laugh hard.

" You shouldn't be scared at all. When I took Giselle home that day from the hospital I had a lot of what ifs. I questioned myself a lot, if I really was gonna be able to take care of a child. When she gave me one of those her toothless smiles, I knew that was it. I was hooked. I love her with every fibre of my being."

She moves to hug me and whispers thank you as I reassure her that she would do great.

"We are having a little thing on Sunday, kind of like a brunch. Damien's family would be coming. He wants to tell them the good news so he invited them over. I need you to help me, Gaby. You are the best cook I know, hands down".

" I don't think I can. With Giselle's party on Saturday, I think I would be extra tired" I teased. Smiling as I see her mood change

"Pretty please" she says as she made pouty faces.

"You know I will. I love you" I tell her with open arms and she moves into my embrace

" I love you too, Gaby. Any ideas on what gifts to get for Giselle?"
