POV

Giovanni

Looking at the one person you've been searching for on a picture in a file is not really the same thing as seeing them face to face. It was like the minute she left after dropping the bombshell that she was pregnant, Adrianna just disappeared into thin air. I tried searching for her and all efforts proved futile. But that's who she is. Impulsive, unreliable. I bet she left just to spite me.

I flip the pages of the file and i see another picture of her and my daughter. My daughter, yes. There was no denying that she is mine. From the mesmerizing blue eyes to the slightly tanned skin tone and the curly black hair, she was the replica of Darla. She reminded me so much of my sister, Darla, who died from the car crash that also claimed my father's live.

Adrianna on the other hand looked different. The years have definitely been good to her. A knock sounded before my secretary comes and announces that Malcolm rivers was here.

"Let him in"

She leaves and a little after Malcolm walks in.

"Hello, Malcolm." We exchange greetings.

"I paid Miss Adrianna a visit on Saturday. She seemed not to know you"

"Oh she does know me. Classic Adrianna. Trying to feign  ignorance to get out of a sticky situation."

"I let her know you are willing to be civilised only if she is willing to cooperate."

"Malcolm, being civilised is the last thing on my mind. She already robbed me of five years of my child's life. I would have loved to do this the legal way, with no doubt that I would win, but no matter the outcome,  the only person who is gonna suffer from it is my daughter. Court rooms are  not a place for children talk less of custody battles."

" I left her my contact details but she is yet to reach out"

Adrianna didn't have a bone of compliance in her body. If I wanted any progress with her I just had to do the reaching out.

"She isn't going to call. I am going to call her myself".
