Saturday
"Happy birthday to you....." I sing as I nudge the birthday girl. She sits up on her bed and stares happily at the cake.
"Make a wish, baby". I tell her.
She closes her eyes and after a split second, she blows out the candles on the cake.
"It's the big 5, huh."
"Hurray, I am five today" she exclaims as she hops into my arms.
"We got to go to mom Adrianna before the party. So let's get you ready."
"OK mom."
We drive off 30 minutes later to Adrianna. I feel a little tired as we head back to the house. Mostly because I have been up since five a.m, preparing food for Giselle's party. I really outdid myself with the food. Sophie volunteered to bring the cake, so all I had to do was worry about the food and decoration. I made shortbread sandwich cookies, snickerdoodles, sloppy joes, and a whole lot more. Most of my job was done. The only thing left was a few helium balloons.
I pull up in my driveway and see Sophie with a big colourful piñata. Giselle runs to Sophie and gives her a hug.
"Hey" I call out to Sophie.
"Hello there, Missy. I hope your tree has a sturdy branch, because that piñata is filled with goodies".

The party is in full swing with a lot of kids from Giselle's school. Giselle is having a lot of fun and that makes me super happy. I see a car parking out front and a man in black suit heading towards the party. I know most of the kids here and their parents. There was something about him that made me feel uneasy, so I meet him halfway." hello, sir."
"Hello, miss" He says as he removes his black sunglasses.
"How may I help you?" I ask as he hands me a card.
"I am Malcolm Rivers. I am here on behalf Mr Giovanni Sandoval."
"OK" It sounded more like a question because the name 'Sandoval' did not ring any bell.
"My client would like to have a meeting with you regarding his child, else he takes legal action".
Client? Child? Legal action?.
I was confused." sir, I think you got the wrong person." I inform him.
"You are Adrianna miller, right?"
Oh my God. This doesn't sound good, I thought to myself.
"No I am not and goodbye, sir."
"You know, he has been searching for you ever since you left. And you denying your identity is not going to change things. He is willing to be civilised and keep things on the low. All we need is your cooperation and you might save yourself the stress of the courtroom. On that card is my phone number, call me as soon as you are ready to meet up with Giovanni. And keep in mind that he doesn't have a lot of patience. Have a nice day."
He walks to his car and drives off leaving me stunned and lost for words. Nothing seems to make sense at all. Who is Giovanni Sandoval?. Why do I have a bad feeling about this?. And just how much did Adrianna not tell me.
