"nina! are you almost ready darling? i don't mean to be a nag, but wasn't the dance supposed to start an hour ago?" nini a mom asked from the bottom of the stairs. nini made her way down in her red dress, red heels, flattering makeup, and a half up half down hairstyle.
"oh nina, you look beautiful. let me get a photo to send to your mom. i know she just hates that she is on a business trip while you are getting ready for your first big dance." her mom said as she took out her phone and snapped a photo.
"some things i will never understand, like why you are leaving while the dance is already almost half over." her mom said, walking around behind nini to tuck in her tag.
"ricky called earlier and said that there was a small problem at josie's diner so he was going to be a little late." nini fibbed. "well i better get going. don't wait up for me, i may be home late." nini said as she walked towards the door.
"i'll be waiting so you can tell me all about it! have fun!" her mother called as nini stepped outside onto the porch.
—
"well the dance was a bust! i'd still like to know what happened to nini, though. kinda weird she didn't show up to the dance at all." ricky said as him and gina sat down at a table at Josie's. they ended up leaving the dance early after getting bored.
"i don't know, and EJ didn't even bother to call me at all. ridiculous." gina said, rolling her eyes as the waitress brought over two waters. "EJ again?" ricky thought to himself. that's basically all gina wanted to talk about all night.
"well i sure would like to find out about nini." ricky said as he got up and put his coat on.
"like now? why don't you just call?" gina said, turning around in her chair to look at ricky.
"because she might not answer, and i just want to make sure for myself." ricky said as he slipped on his scarf and started walking towards the door.
"well do you want me to come with you? i mean, wasn't this supposed to be a date?" gina asked, slightly irritated.
"look gina, just try and enjoy the rest of your night. i don't really enjoy dates, where my date goes on about EJ caswell all night long." he said as he shrugged his shoulders and walked out of the diner.

nini walked around the fountain in the park and decided to sit on a bench facing it.
"i already watched a movie, i need to waste another half hour and that should be good. it's cold, but the wind is blocked here so it's not too bad. i can just enjoy nature and take it in for a little bit." nini thought to herself as she looked around at the empty park.
nini took a deep breathe of the cold february air. she looked up into the night sky to admire the stars. just then, one hand grasped around her mouth and another around her waist. the strong, hard hands had gloves on. nini went to scream, but the hand was stopping anything from coming out. she couldn't breath. the strong arms started pulling against her, trying to get her off of the bench. nini tried to keep her feet on the ground. she grasped at the bench below her and held on as hard as she could. nini fought as hard as she could, but whoever was fighting against her was much stronger and larger. he ripped her right off the bench and dragged her into the bushes behind the bench. nini tried to scream, but the hand was still over her mouth. nini was so scared, and no matter how hard she fought, it wasn't hard enough.
this wasn't how her night was supposed to go.
