"Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it all."

BEEP BEEP. BEEP BEEP. BEEP BEEP.The obnoxious beeping of Valerie Gabriels' alarm clock woke her up from a night of dreamless sleep. She was never a morning person and it always took her a million times of pressing the snooze button to get out of bed, but today was different.
Valerie dashed to the alarm clock to turn it off, snatching her phone from its charger in the process. She jumped back into bed, nearly knocking her pillows off with the force, and checked her notifications. She had received a new text 15 minutes ago. It read:
"VAL OMFG IT'S OUR BIG DAY! :-D I HOPE YOURE READY FOR ME TO PICK YOU UP!"
Valerie smiled as she replied to the text.
"I knoww Candi, chill. :) I just woke up, but i'll be ready soon"
A response came a minute later.
"Lol. GET OUT OF BED U LAZY ASS!"
Valerie beamed while rolling her eyes at her best friend's text. Valerie had met Candice Harper in the 7th grade when the two had been assigned partners for the science fair, and they had become instant best friends. Although Candice was very hyper and bubbly and went a bit overboard at times, she and Valerie had lots in common and always had something new to talk about.
Valerie showered, brushed her teeth, and threw on a Disneyland T-shirt, denim shorts, and white converse. She put her hair into a messy bun, did her daily makeup routine, and went downstairs. She was greeted by a delicious smell. In the kitchen, she found her mother making pancakes and her 10-year-old brother Daniel eating them at the table. They were practically swimming in syrupy goodness.
"Good morning, sweetie!" Valerie's mother cried when she saw her figure standing in the doorway.
"Morning, ma! You made pancakes?"
"I made them because it's a special occasion. I can't believe my baby girl is going to college!" The mother walked over and showered her daughter with hugs and kisses.
"Psh. Neither can I."
"Alright, Valerie, I just made a fresh batch of pancakes. Eat up, okay?"
"Okay, thanks, ma!"
After finishing breakfast and getting every last box packed up for school, the doorbell rang. It was time to go. Valerie's mother and Daniel walked over to hug her and give her her last goodbyes.
"We're going to love and miss you more than you could ever even imagine, sweetie." The mother was in tears at this point. "Good luck at school, don't party too hard, get the best grades you possibly can, and most importantly, have fun."
"Okay, ma, I will! I love you so much!" Candice loudly knocked on the door to see if Valerie was coming or not. "I really have go now, you guys. Bye! Air hug!" Valerie opened to door to greet her best friend. The two helped each other pack their things into Candice's white sedan while screaming and exchanging their excitement all the while.
"We're off to ASU!" Candice exclaimed while pulling out of the driveway. With that, they played the song Shake Tramp by Mariana's Trench and sang along to the chorus:
"Try a little more, a little more, a little more! They slap you like a bitch and you take it like a whore! Upside down and around and around! Just another piece til you need another sound!"
Valerie was a horrible singer, Candice was far better than she was, so Candice singing along with her at least prevented the sound in whole from sounding like a dying walrus.

It's the end of the prologue! Yay! I hope you got a good beginning to the story even though it was short. In full honestly, i'm not old enough to go to college yet, so if I make a factual error anywhere in this book about what college is actually like, PLEASE let me know. Thank you guys, I love you. <3Also, listen to Shake Tramp if you haven't heard it yet. It's a great song.
