EPILOGUE

“Daddy!”

“Daddy!”

“Hmm?”

“Can we visit mama today?”

“Yes. If you want to visit her, you two have to sleep, okay?”

“Okay, dad!”

My kids turned six and it’s been years since my wife left us. I did everything I can to make her live.

But I guess, this is her fate. I understand why she chose to hide the truth from me.

She didn’t want to hurt me.

I looked at the twins who’s sleeping like their mom. If she’s still alive, she’d be happy to see them like this.

I went to an empty room where Blair and I shared everything. Everytime I look at the bed, I remember Blair sitting on the bed with her legs crossed while reading a book and later on, she will fall asleep.

I miss those nights where we’ll just talk about our plans together.

Two years ago, Blair’s death anniversary

“Daddy, bakit po nasa ground si mama?” I pretended not to hear her question. She’s still young. Soon, she’ll understand.

“Baby, I’ll explain it to you soon, okay?”

“Okay, dad. Can we buy ice cream?” I nodded.

My son knows that his mom’s dead. He’s acting like a mature kid around his sister but when I’m alone with him, he’s crying and telling me how much he miss his mom.

Everytime he’s doing that, I would tell him some stories about his mom and tell him how much I miss her and I wish I could turn back the time and try to save her.

“Dad?”

“Yes, Las?” I looked at the mirror, he’s sad. It hurts seeing my kids like this.

“After we buy ice cream, can we visit mom again?” I nodded.

Sól smiled at me. I smiled at her.

She looks like her mom.

“Good afternoon, daddy!”

“Good afternoon, Sól and Las.”

“Are we gonna visit mama na po ba?” I nodded. Sól’s always excited to visit her mom, she still don’t know why her mom is gone.

Soon, she’ll know.

“Dad, can we talk?” Sól went inside the bathroom.
