Jasmine eyed herself in the mirror as she finished curling the last straight strand of dark hair. She had chosen a strapless cobalt dress that fell to her knees. Her silver heels were sitting beside her bed. She hadn’t wanted to wear them until absolutely necessary. She was going to go to meet this Damian and then drive over to Nick and Melody’s to watch Cal. She had been lucky enough that when she looked up the address on her phone, she found it was fairly close to her cousin’s home. A soft knock broke the silence of the room as Clarice stuck her head into the room and smiled.

“Nick called and said to meet them at their house around ten ok, Jazzy?” Clarice remarked as she stood in the doorway. Jasmine nodded and turned toward her with her painted lips bowed down.

“What’s wrong doll?” Clarice asked. She came into the room fully as Jasmine slumped onto the edge of her bed.

“I’m not going to like my new case,” Jasmine informed her worried aunt. Clarice stared at her niece, shocked. Jasmine loved every case she got, no matter what it was. The fact that she was so melancholic about her latest one bothered Clarice.

“Why is that?” Clarice questioned as she sat down next to Jasmine. The bed gave a slight groan with the added weight and Clarice shushed it. Jasmine chuckled before she pulled out the picture of her new case. Clarice placed her hand over her chest dramatically.

“My, my, my. He’s quite the looker, isn’t he? I still don’t see why you won’t like it,” Clarice said as she handed the picture back to Jasmine, who tucked it into her nearby clutch.

“I have to find him a wife,” Jasmine informed the older woman. Clarice’s chocolate eyes widened for a second before a soft smile.

“You’ll be fine. I’m sure he will be just the gentleman. Besides darlin’ if anything else you can just tell him, he has no hope of ever finding a wife,” Clarice offered reassuringly as Jasmine groaned.

“I’m an investigator, Aunt Clarice. I’ve never had to find someone a mate before!” She exclaimed as if raising her voice helped get her point across. Clarice chuckled.

“Did your client want you to find him a wife or a mate?”

“Wife. And my client is his mother! Can you believe that? What mother hires a paranormal investigator to find her son a wife?” Jasmine questioned as she turned to Clarice, expecting an answer. Clarice chuckled again.

“A mother who is tired of her son’s bachelorhood and wants to coddle and spoil grandchildren, no doubt, love,” Clarice replied. Jasmine rolled her eyes.

“I wonder if he even knows,” Jasmine responded dejectedly.  Clarice shrugged. Jasmine sighed one more time before she slipped her heels on and climbed to her feet. She kissed her aunt on the cheek before leaving the room.

“Don’t wait up for me. I’m coming home late tonight,” Jasmine remarked right before she left the room. Clarice nodded before she looked around Jasmine’s room. Jasmine grabbed her car keys off the kitchen counter and headed out the door. She paused just outside before she cursed her memory and went back into the house. She grabbed her cell phone off of the table in the foyer and headed back outside. She jumped into her red Dodge Challenger and sped off. Her spinning tires sent gravel shooting back at the trees.

Victoria looked around the room; her eyes searched for her P.I. Victoria knew Jasmine would be intrigued enough to come. Victoria spotted her son as he sat, enjoying himself with a couple of girls whom she recognized as the twin daughters of one of her business partners. Her green eyes met his gold ones and she watched something flashed across his face. It was only there for a second and then it was gone. She couldn’t determine what the look had been, but it bothered her. Damian’s arrogant nature and handsomeness often scared away girls who could make good wives. However, it did not deter the other less proper girls that threw themselves at him. She frowned at the thought of the list of floozy women she had seen hang off of her son’s arm. Her annoyance was short lived when she spotted Jasmine entering the room. She quickly caught the woman’s attention and waved her over.
