"Saumya, will you just stop eating my brain?" Gauri grumbled over her phone while flipping through the pages of a book, as she fidgeted on the chair.
"Hmmm, no, it's far too tasty for me."
"Saumya!!!"
"God! I'm just asking what really happened between you and Bade balon wale bhaiya yesterday. Is it really that hard to tell me that?"
"Nothing really happened." Gauri muttered, "I told you, I suddenly remembered something important and had to leave."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You and your important work." She heard Saumya's irritated voice through the phone, "anyways, can you pass my message to Shivay jeeju? He had asked me to....."
"I can't. " Gauri interrupted.
"Sorry?"
"I can't pass your message. Ask Anika Bhabhi to do that. Or better, do that yourself."
"Wh-why? Anything wrong?"
"Nothing wrong Saumya." Gauri sighed, "let's just say that I and Bhai are not in talking terms for now."
"Oh God!" Saumya's amplified shriek boomed through her ears, "You and Shivay Jeeju had a fight? Now, there's going to be a snowfall in Mumbai. What should we do?"
"That's why I didn't want you to date Rudra." Gauri said, "you were dramatic already, now you've gone overdramatic."
"But really Gauri, why did you...." A pause, "hey! See, speak of the devil and the devil is here. Rudra's calling me. So, I'll to you later, bye."
"Bye." Gauri said giving an eye roll as Saumya disconnected the call. Tossing her phone aside, she lowered her head, resting it over the opened book on the table. Events that had occurred yesterday had caused the loss of sleep, which resulted in a sharp pain in her head.
"Are you sleeping on the book? I think pillow is a better option."
She raised her head, and saw Anika standing at the doorway, her arms crossed. "I'm not sleeping Bhabhi, I was just not feeling well."
"Not feeling well?" A look of concern, washed over Anika's face as she made her way towards Gauri, "What is it? Fever? Are you feeling cold too?"
"Bhabhi, calm down." Gauri said giving a chuckle, "I'm just tired, that's all. I'll be okay if I just take a little rest or something."
"Oh! All right..." Anika said, then why don't you come down? Since-"
"No, not now bhabhi." Gauri replied as she rested her head on the table again and closed her eyes, "I really want to be left alone for a while. Please?"
"Are you sure?" She heard Anika's question.
"Yes."
"Okay then." Anika replied, " Poor Omkara, he wanted to talk to you so badly."
"Omkara?!" Gauri sprang to her feet, making Anika back away a little, "He is here?"
"Yup, he arrived few minutes ago." Anika said, a grin creeping over her lips, "but since you are not feeling well, I'll tell him to go...."
"No no no... Wait!" Gauri said frantically as her fingers involuntarily attempted to make her messy hair presentable "I'm coming."
.
Omkara remained seated uneasily at the sofa in the guest's room, sipping the cold drink Anika had offered him. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps approached the room, and the next moment, Anika reappeared with Gauri at tow.
"Hey!" He greeted Gauri after standing up with a smile, who was biting her lips nervously. She gave him a nod as a reply, flustered.
"So, am I supposed to leave you two alone?" Anika asked cheekily , "or can I stay here?"
"If you want to see me offer an apology to her," Omkara said, "by all means, stay here."
"Uh...No thank you, I'll leave." She said and hurried away, leaving the two alone.
"So..." Omkara began, "I wanted to say sorry to you for yesterday."
"Me too." Gauri replied.
"What?""I am really sorry for running away like that, without giving you a chance to explain anything." Gauri said, "that was really rude."
"Of course not." Omkara said, "it was understandable. I did wrong by not telling you about it. But trust me, I was about to tell you about it on the ring ceremony. I just felt it was quite awkward and couldn't do it."
Gauri smiled. "No, it's alright. So, you don't have any idea who sent you that letter right?"
"I didn't." Omkara replied.
"What?" Gauri asked with a start.
"Not important." Omkara said with a wave of his hand, "but the fact is, it was all a joke. A dumb joke... But a joke. And believe me, this was the last thing I kept from you. It won't happen anytime again."
Before Gauri could reply to him over this, Shivay irrupted into the room, only to stop on his track as his eyes fell on Omkara.
"Om..." He mumbled, his expression seemed to brighten up a little, "er...Never mind, I'll come later."
"Shivay, wait!" Omkara called out, stopping Shivay, 'I needed to talk to you" he said, his eyes drifted to Gauri, "alone."
A frown appeared on the faces of both siblings at these words. Shivaye looked at him, "Alright, I'll be in my room, you can come there..."
"I need to talk to you now." Omkara interrupted, " it's urgent."
"It's okay." Gauri said, "I was leaving for outside only."
"Leaving for outside? But whe-" Shivay began to question but suddenly caught himself, "sorry, I didn't mean..."
"My order for clothes for the kids had arrived yesterday." Gauri replied interrupting him, not meeting his gaze, "I had not arranged it. I was thinking to go and do that now."
The two of them nodded as Gauri excused herself, and left them together.
"So, let's have a little talk. Shall we, Shivay?" Omkara said, bringing Shivay's attention, whose gaze was still lingering at the door way from where Gauri had left.Shivay composed a calm smile as he paced towards him. "Sure. By the way, when did you arrive?"
"Just a little time ago." Omkara replied, "Well, I have a question first. What's going on between you and Gauri?"
Shivay suddenly looked interested in the tiles of the floor. "What do you mean?"
"I mean.." Omkara said, "You two, seemed a little distant today. Everything alright?"
"Of course." Shivay muttered, "all is well. Siblings' argument do occurs sometimes."
"Oh. Okay."
Shivay bent to pick up an empty glass and a jug of water. "Now don't tell me you wanted to talk to me about this."Shivay said while pouring water in the glass.
"No, not at all." Omkara said, and sat on the sofa, "I wanted to talk to you about something else. Something which has been bothering me since a lot of time. And only you can help me over it."
"Well, go on." Shivay said with a shrug, before sipping from the glass.
"I'll jump straight to the point." Omkara said with a wide smile, as he crossed his one leg over the other to sit comfortably, "So tell me Shivay, what was the meaning of those mysterious love letters you have been sending me?"
