Dear Dad
I am really sorry that I am conveying you these words by a mere letter. But you see, I had no choice. How could I stand in front of you and say all about it myself? How could I let you know that your daughter had finally decided to quit? How could I face your reaction after making you realize how much weak I am? So, I plead you to forgive me for doing this.
Okay....You can breath now. I was just kidding.
On a serious note, I have a good news for you, with one bad news absolutely free. The good news is that, I got selected for the national level art contest!!! Shout with me, YIPEEE!!!! I know, it's hard to believe. But it's true. Rekha Ma'am said that it was an example of talent inherited by genes. I can't say I disagree.
Now, time for the bad news. Report cards came out today. I did perform good in every subject but.... Mathematics? I flunked nevertheless.
Please don't be angry. You know how much I tried for that dangerous subject. But still I don't understand why do I forget those terrible formulas once I enter examination hall. Seriously!
Anyways, I was just saying that the report card is in my room, in the second shelf of my cupboard. Please show it to Mom and yeah, it's your job to handle her anger. Just one last time. I promise I'll work even more harder next time. Just calm down her anger and once it is safe for me to return home, call Ani Mami. I am going with her, Shivansh bhaiya and Dhruv to watch Disney's Aladdin. Gosh! I am so excited.
All right,I know it's really unfair to go out and let you handle the mess which I've created. But of course there is no one other than you who can face Mom in her angry mode. So, Good luck....
Your sweet daughter,
Radhika.
P.S: You're the best Dad ever.
Gauri sighed heavily as she folded the letter gentle and tossed it aside. Then, while removing the strands of hairs from her eyes, she looked up at her husband and daughter.
Omkara and Radhika, both were standing two feet away from her, fidgeting uneasily as if they were expecting her to pounce over them with a loud roar.
"All right." She said, clapping her hands together, "Which one of you wants scolding first?"
Both of them have her a frightened glance, and then with a blink, looked at each other.
"Dad..." Radhika said, smile creeping over her lips, " I love you very much. You can have it first."
"Oh no." Omkara shook his head, "you are supposed to be the first one."
"Me?" Radhika gave a shrug. "Why?"
"Ever heard of 'Ladies first'?"
"Ever heard of 'Gender Equality'?" The girl said frowning at her father, "Plus, I am not even a lady. Just a little twelve year old."
