Amara knew letting her family know she was alive was impractical. Yet it was all she wanted to do. There had to be a reason why the human villages had no idea this dragon realm existed. Still, she wanted to tell them so badly.

They'd be mourning her with the rest of the village. She just wished she could let them know there was no need. In all her life, Amara had never been helpless, now she felt that emotion. She knew though, that it was the fate of a female to get used to things beyond her control. Besides, Daichi was an amazing man, eh dragon.

So far he'd been patient with her, understanding her need to mourn the loss of the life she'd always had. To even mourn her continued life where she'd thought it'd be ended. It was irrational but Amara embraced the fact she was afraid of going on.

Her new life was one of luxury unlike anything she'd ever seen. Even the palace she'd visited with her father in one of the cities close to their villages was nothing in comparison. As a female, she never would've visited outside the villages but her father had spoiled her. From the moment a girl was chosen for sacrifice, her villagers went out of their way to spoil her. Making up for what they believed would be her short life.

If only they knew.

Amara looked herself up in the mirror. She wore a long dress with a round collar like the mongolids would wear. It had buttons down to its high waist where it became of another material. This one smoother than the stiff one at the top. It flowed about her, silken against her skin as she moved.

The dress was silver with blue accents that echoed the slight glow of the blue veins that now lined her skin. Daichi had called the beautiful and distinct patterns nyreat and said they showed a mirror to his own and claimed her as his. For some reason Amara loved being claimed as his for all to see.

She knew he'd be coming for her soon. In the four days she'd been here, she'd allowed her attendants to dress her each morning but had never left the rooms. She knew Daichi longed to show her his city but he'd never pushed. Only for the evening meal had Amara left the rooms. She'd even left the preparations for their marriage ceremony to his mother, even though she had insisted on it.

Satisfied with how she looked, Amara sat back down to wait for Daichi, today she'd let him show her the city. It was daunting knowing that he was the heir to this dragon kingdom and she would now be the next queen. Amara hoped she'd not embarrass him with his people. Daichi was everything she thought she'd never have, kind, thoughtful, handsome.

She felt lucky to be with him, happy like she'd never thought she would be. Even as she mourned the loss of her family, Amara couldn't help but feel grateful to be with Daichi. So she waited, hoping that just like the other days he'd come.

When he showed up, he took her breath away. Once again she marveled at how strong he was, his muscles bulging and yet not too excessively. He was tall, his smooth skin lighter than hers and yet still dark. He was handsome with a straight Roman nose, his dark hair a beautiful contrast to his tawny skin.
