There were turmoiltous emotions written on her face. Confusion, fear, a vulnerability that showed her innocence and yet the trust he loved so much in her still shone from her face. Daichi had been afraid she'd start looking at him with that fear he saw in her gaze but he realised it wasn't directed at him.

"Tell me what you're thinking," he asked as he held her wide gaze.

"Are those women okay?" she asked instead, compassion taking over her expressive face.

"The ones that allow their stories to be used to help others have managed to overcome the trauma they experienced." He explained. "That way they can help other mates to overcome their trauma should they need it, help them realise they can get past it."

A frown appeared in her eyes and wrote itself onto her face. "I haven't experienced any of the things they have," she stated veiling her gaze for a moment in that shy way she had, though she soon met his gaze again.

"I needed you to understand why I stopped myself that day," he explained. "Why I couldn't risk taking things further."

Though her cheeks remained the same colour he could feel the heat that infused them, see the bashful look filling her brown depths. "You didn't want to hurt me," she added in a small voice as shame washed over her expressive face. "And I acted like a ninny when you were taking care of me." she hung her head at that.

His hand went to her chin and he lifted her head until she was once more looking into his eyes. "Amara, there's nothing wrong with being ignorant of some things. The universe is such a big place that there isn't a single person who knows everything there is to it. We are different people, from different races and cultures and if we don't talk about what we don't understand we'll end up making each other miserable. I should've explained myself before and I'm sorry for that."

She nodded her head, her gaze holding onto his as if he were her lifeline. Had anyone ever looked at him with that much trust? Had he ever come across any female who was so guileless? Maybe he liked the fact that she wasn't as worldly as he was, that her culture had yet to achieve the advancements his had. He didn't think he was the kind of male who liked ignorant women so he could boost his ego, which made him wonder why he liked the fact that his mate wasn't as knowledgeable as he was.

"Daichi?" she whispered his name, her eyes fluttering at him so enticingly, how he loved it when she said his name.

"Yes, Amara." and her name sounded so sweet that he found himself wanting to say it all the time.

"What is the universe? Is that another way of saying the world?"

Holding back the smile that wanted to trace his lips in case she mistook it, Daichi explained. Her eyes widened then narrowed as she tried to work through what was obviously confusing to her. "But if the world is a floating ball then where are we right now?" she asked. "We're not on the ground and there's still a sky above us."
