Sneedville Tennessee
Andrew sat in his hotel room next door to his parents, he was watching TV and waiting for his delivery food to arrive. He had been out of the hospital for 24hrs, his parents had come to pick him up the night of the 5th. Right after he had been talked to by sheriff Henry and Deputy Fredericks. The Doctors had cleared Andrew for release. And his parents had wanted to take him back to Fort Wayne that very day. But some FBI agents had told the Grants that Andrew needed to be interviewed more before he could return to Texas with them. Helen Grant was not going to leave her baby in Arkansas or Tennessee by himself. She Had made that mistake before when she didn't force him to go back to fort Wayne with them, after the first time he was attacked, and she was going to be dammned if she didn't stay with him now. Andrew had insisted that his parents go on back to Texas and he would come on later. With Rachel, Dr Anthony and Lacey. But his mother wouldn't hear of it. The whole family decided to stay. She was gonna be there for him no matter what. Andrew couldn't fault her for that he guessed. She was his mother and he was the youngest, although he supposed in some ways Deshawn had taken over that role. He sat at the table of his hotel room looking out of the window, La-Laurie sat next to him La-Laurie hadn't let Andrew out of her sight since she had come to see him at the hospital. He had gotten a phone call from Anita a little over an hour ago. She sounded like she was in better spirits, given the fact that she had been stabbed not two months ago. " so I also found something else the other day, Anita had said over the phone. You did Andrew said, yeah I did. I'm pregnant, I'm barely 8 weeks. But its Chris's baby." Oh Anita that's so wonderful. Oh my God this is amazing news! Yeah Anita said laughing into the phone. I'm excited about the baby, I know it won't bring Chris back but I'll have a small piece of him still. She and Andrew had talked for awhile longer, and then Andrew had just sat and watched TV. There was a knock at his door around 3:30 that afternoon. He knew his family had gone out to sightsee so he wasn't expecting them. Then for a moment fear had seized his heart.... What if its Aiden? What if Aiden isn't Dead and this time he's back to kill me. Andrew remembered that he had a baseball bat next to the bed. He walked over and picked up the wooden bat, he placed it behind his back and he walked to the door. Who is it Andrew called out, its deputy Fredricks. I um came to see if you were ok.... Andrew sighed and laid the bat against the wall near the door. Sure, yeah give me a moment. Andrew exhaled again and shook his shoulders. He opened the door, officer Fredricks stood there, in the doorway, wearing a blue baseball T-shirt and grey joggers. He smiled at Andrew. Hey Mr Grant, um I was just stopping by to see if you were ok. Or if needed to talk, Andrew looked puzzled. Um I.. I think I'm fine officer Fredrick's. " Allen my names Allen. Please call me Allen. officer Fredricks said with a smile Andrew thought to himself ( well by George this guy has a little crush.) Well Allen, Andrew said. I am actually kind of bored, see my Dad and my younger cousin went back to Texas this morning. They took the mini van and my Mom and sister are out getting a rental car for us to go back to Texas the day after tomorrow, or hell who knows really. The cops keep asking me so many questions. It might be next year before I go home! Allen looked shocked. Well Mr Grant, " nope, no. Call me Andrew please " said smiling. Ok well then Andrew... We have to be thorough with this. Being that it is a cross country killing spree... Andrew shuddered at those words. I tell you what though Andrew, let me take you out for a Burger and a beer maybe or pizza. Whatever you want, my treat. Andrew smiled. Yeah I could go for a burger! He looked over at La-Laurie who lay on the floor looking at Andrew and this new man he was speaking with. Almost in a judgmental way it was as if she were afraid her human was going to make a deadly mistake again. Andrew sensed that, he looked at her and at Allen. Hey Allen could you give me maybe just a minute and I'll be all yours? Allen smiled, um sure. I'll be at my truck and come out whenever you are ready. Allen walked off, Andrew walked over to La-Laurie and kneeled down next to her. He patted her head and picked up her face and looked into her eyes. I swear its just a burger and some beer girl, nothing else. I will never let anyone else hurt you or anything else I love ever again. I swear to you La-La. La-Laurie groaned and looked at Andrew. He hugged her and went to get his phone and jacket. Allen took Andrew to a restaurant called Thelma and Patties. It wasn't much on the outside but the inside looked nice. Wooden walls and rustic décor. It looked like your typical country diner. Allen and Andrew sat at a table in the corner of the building. Andrew wanted to be seated facing the door way. He never wanted his back to any entrance every again. The diner wasn't crowded, there were maybe ten people including Andrew and Allen. It was Allen who broke the silence first... So you're in college aren't you? Yeah I'm a senior, well was a senior Andrew corrected himself. I mean I've missed so much school this year in some way or another, I seriously doubt they will let me graduate. I'll probably end up graduating in December or next May. Allen nodded, so what's your Major? You seem like you'd be an education major or a business major. Something like that. No Andrew chuckled... I'm your typical Psyche major. I wanted to be a psycharist one day, work in a mental hospital or something like that. But I don't know anymore I might actually take the year or two off and find myself again... Allen nodded, yeah that might be for the best. I mean after all you've been through no one would blame you for taking some time off to heal. So uh Allen, what made you want to be a cop? Allen chuckled and looked down at his cup. Well believe it or not I'm your classic stereotype, I was the small town Jock. I played Baseball and basketball, dated the homecoming queen and head cheerleader. I had a baseball scholarship to Arkansas state. But I tore my Rotator cuff during the last game. Jesus Andrew said, you were right, that's definitely a big ole stereotype. They both laughed. So after that I cruised around, doing odd jobs and drinking. Paige and I married out of high school and then came little Miss Cynthia and I knew I had to grow up. Andrew swallowed " oh you have a kid?" Allen nodded yup. My Cynthia Marie. She's almost eight now, her mother and I share custody of her. Right now she's with her mother for the week over in Helena. But this weekend I'll have her back. Oh you're not married anymore? Nah Allen said. Paige and I couldn't make it work anymore, we weren't the same people we were in high school. So now I'm a thirty yearold divorced single father who's a cop... Wow I never saw that coming he said with a laugh. " well at least your boyfriend didn't end up being a serial killer. " Andrew said while taking a bite of his burger. Yeah Allen said, most of my boyfriends have just been meth heads, and gold diggers. Andrew straightened up at the last of Allen's sentence. Wait, you're gay? Allen smiled again. Exposing his white teeth, no I'm bisexual or more so pansexual. I tend to see the person instead of their orientation, are you shocked? Andrew giggled. Actually I really am, I never expected that. Allen laughed. Well most people don't know not that I'm in the closet I just don't tell many people. Say do you want to go back to my house maybe? We can um watch movies and talk. Andrew nodded, sure why not. Let me text my mom and remind her to walk La-Laurie. Meanwhile back at the hotel, Helen Grant and her daughter Olivia. Had just pulled into the parking lot in their Ford rental car. They both had bags under each arm and Helen was talking to her sister Martha Ellen. on the phone. Olivia walked on into the hotel room first. Helen was busy telling her sister about how she was ready to leave all of this awful business in Arkansas. And get back to her house in Texas and how she and Martin and the kids would be over to visit them in Houston when they had all settled. She hadn't heard her daughters muffled scream, or the thumping sound of her body hitting the floor in the bathroom. Ten minutes later Helen finally entered the room, she could hear La-Laurie barking ferociously next door. Andrew See after your dog baby, they will put us out of here if you dont get her quite. Andrew? Helen opened the ajoing door and Andrew was nowhere to be seen.. La-Laurie walked up to her and whimpered.. Helen patted her head. What's wrong with you La-Laurie? Where's Andrew... Helen called out for Oliva. " Olivia did your brother text you that he was going out?" Helen looked at her phone and saw she had a message from Andrew... " Mama I went to get a burger and watch a movie with Officer Fredricks. I'll be back before night, please look after La-Laurie " Helen rolled her eyes... Unfucking believable she said. Olivia honey were are you? Helen called out. Olivia? Just then a male voice called out from behind her.. I'm right here mother. Helen Grant turned around and saw Charles Grady starring right at her. She screamed but only screamed once.
