As my mom did my hair, putting it into a fishtail braid. She added a strong bow clip that looked really pretty on my hair.
Once I already got ready, I went to the beach.I thought of what would happen when I confirm my choice to the mermaid ruler and all of the mermaids around me. I didn't know if I could handle all the pressure.
Once I swam through the mermaid gates and went into the mermaid land, all the people were wearing colorful dark and neon hairdos, wore special attire and we're all starring at me.
This was the one thing that made me nervous.
Then my mom and I looked at each other and talked.

Katherine: I can't do this mom.

Mom: You can.

Katherine: I don't think I can.

Mom: Why not?

Katherine: Because one choice can change my life forever.

Mom: Just pick the one that makes you feel more comfortable.

Katherine: No, I just can't.

Mom: But...

Suddenly the mermaid ruler called my name. As I went on the sand/ coral stage, the mermaids in the audience began to look at me.
They told me questions of being a half mermaid and what I did when I got my powers, until the final choice.

Mermaid ruler: What do you pick? A human or a mermaid.

I thought about it. I had thoughts of being a mermaid, like finally seeing my family that's under water and having other abilities half mermaids don't have.
On the other hand, I also had thoughts of becoming a human. If I ever become a human, I would still go to school and still be with my mom and my best friend Sierra.
There were three choices for me.

1. To become a mermaid.

2. To become a human.

3. To still be a half mermaid and taking a lot of risks.

Somehow the third choice was the one that over ruled my thoughts of becoming a human or a mermaid.

Katherine: A half mermaid.

My mom swims towards me.

Mom: What are you doing? Why are you doing that? Your not supposed to.

Katherine: I know, but I can't take this anymore.

Mom: It doesn't mean you have to go against the rules.

Katherine: Your right. It is against the rules, but I never get to see them.

Mom: Then become a mermaid.

Katherine: that also means I never get to see you and Sierra again.

Mom: Just make up your mind.

Katherine: Fine.

I didn't really meant what I said because I was totally anxious about this. So I just chose the same thing anyways.

Katherine: Fine, I choose to be a half mermaid and I don't care about this this I don't think this should be happening.

I was scared that something bad would happened to me, so I was swimming as fast as I could. The worst part was that they were chasing me.
When they finally caught me. They had to put me somewhere. Where I could never see my family and the people I love ever again.
It was mermaid jail, but I hoped it would be somewhere else.
