Hunter and Adam fell into my room once the door was open, one on top of the other.

"Dios mío." My dad sighed and rubbed his face. "Y'all kids really don't listen."

Angeline was revealed to be behind them. She shrugged. "I wanted him to go home with me but he found that this was a more urgent matter."

Adam glowered at her. "Snitch."

"You were already found out, dumbass." She bit back.

He rolled his eyes.

"Get off of me already, fatass." Hunter choked out. "You're suffocating me."

"Man, y'all love my ass." Adam snarked, getting up. "Fans."

My dad sighed again. I couldn't help crack a small smile.

"Anyways though, who the hell hurt you?" Adam kept his voice low and serious.

I opened my mouth but nothing came out. "Uh...."

Angeline dropped her head into her hands. I was surprised she didn't speak up in my place again.

A moment of silence passed before my brother got impatient. "Well?"

Angeline finally looked at me.

I can't tell them. I tried to communicate with my eyes.

It seemed she got the message because disappointment was clear on her face. "I don't feel comfortable sleeping in my house, Mr. Kade. I don't think that'll change with or without Adam. If ya don't let me stay here, well then, I'll leave for now. But I'll sneak back around midnight and sleep with Thea like I usually do." Her voice was flat. "Any objections?" She looked around. No one responded, so she turned on her heel and strutted out. The front door slamming was audible.

"You got Angie upset?" Hunter raised his eyebrow. "Last time I ever seen y'all not on good terms was fifth grade when you flushed her dead fish instead of burying it like she wanted, cause you were too lazy."

I looked down. Adam make a frustrated noise. "I think you guys are forgetting the fact that my best friend was hurt."

I rolled my eyes. "Maybe I wouldn't be if you hadn't left me for my brother."

Hunter pursed his lips and used his hand to block his face. Adam gaped. "Thee..."

I let out a breath. "I don't blame you for what happened, Adam. It doesn't matter cause, what happened happened. And nothing will change that."

My dad held my left hand and brought it to his chest. "Baby girl, I got eleven guns, 24 knives, 3 machetes, and a whip. And have used all of them on multiple human beings under high stress circumstances, one time with officers in the next room, cool as a cucumber- but feel my heart now. You're making me anxious."

"TMI Dad." I muttered.

"You really ain't just gonna say it?" Hunter looked wary. "Was it that bad?"

I could already see the guilt on Adam's face.

"Adam, leave." I decided. "You don't gotta be a part of this."

His face immediately turned red. "Now I know for a fact it's bad. I want to know, Thea. Even my sister knows. You know I hate being kept out of the loop- especially with you."

"And I hate being left alone at parties, but that didn't stop you from ditching me." My voice was as harsh as I intended, the words so sharp I could almost see them cut him.

"Fine, I'm sorry, Thea." He bowed his head. "I don't even know what I'm sorry about, but fine." He stomped out.

The door slamming was much louder this time and I squeezed my eyes shut, wishing everything would disappear. They let me sit in silence for two minutes before Hunter spoke up.

"Thee, just tell it to us straight. We won't flip if that's what got you worried." He sat next to me, petting my hair.

My dad grumbled in the back. "It was never a problem before."

It was true. I did get into a lot of bad situations with people when I was younger, but it was my greatest satisfaction seeing their smug faces turn to fear when my brother, his friend, and my dad and a couple people from his gang pull up. I used to love laughing in their crying little faces when they realized the danger they were in. Still do.

But it's not something I could laugh over even if I do get revenge.

"I was r-" I tried to say it fast but my mind blanked out.

My dad leaned in. "You were what?"

Hunter sighed before putting his ear right in front of my mouth. "Just whisper it baby sis, you ain't gotta say it loud."

So I took a deep breath and whispered. "He said I was trash." My brother stiffened. "He knew who I was, who you were."

"Who was it?" Hunter whispered back.

"I dunno." I felt a tear run down my cheek. "He left me on the floor bleeding, Hunt. I couldn't even wear the same pants cause they were ripped."

I leaned back and he leaned up, looking me in the eyes silently like he couldn't even process what I was saying.

For one second, I let worst case scenarios run through my head. I wouldn't be able to go on if Hunter didn't believe me.

His mouth suddenly dropped. "No. He didn't, he couldn't have. No one would dare." His voice was incredulous.

I looked down. Hunter covered his mouth. "Oh my god, no, that is sick."

My dad looked around in confusion. "What is?"

But Hunter was so mortified, he stopped responding. His expression was of pure shock, hands still covering his mouth. I pulled my knees to my chest and gazed at him.

His face crumpled once he looked at me again. He didn't cry but his voice sounded like it once he pulled me into a hug, burying my face into his chest. "Not my baby sister, not you, not you."

Funny. I think I said that too.

My dad slammed his fist against the wall. We both jumped. "¿Qué es?" He growled.

I wanted to burst into tears. Hunter must've seen it in my expression, so he turned to my dad. "I'll tell you later, Papa, I promise. C- can we just sit here for a while?"

My dad sighed and nodded, before leaving the room.
