Annie woke up with the warm sunlight falling on her face. She got up from her bed and then looked out her window. She looked out of the window and smiled. The birds chirping made the morning even more special.
She got up and freshened up and went downstairs. No one was there. Unusual for her.
She went and then looked around. There was a note left on the table which read-
Annie dear, I and your Dad had to leave early in
morning as Uncle John suddenly fell ill. He needs
us and so we are going leaving you this note. Daniel
is with us. He’ll come back soon. Take care.
xx Mum xx
Annie read the note and then kept it aside. She went to the kitchen. Breakfast was kept ready for her. It was Monday and she had to go to school. She quickly went upstairs and then got dressed. She wore a navy blue shirt with a white skirt and matching high boots. She kept her hair open. She then went downstairs and ate her breakfast. She then left home at 7:35 am. She took her bag and then locked her home and went to school.
She walked down the street. She went and walked down and reached Jessica’s house. Jessica was waiting outside.
“Hey!” Jessica waved as she saw Annie.
‘Hi! Daniel isn’t coming today.” Annie told her as they walked up to school.
“I know. He called me up in the morning and told me that your uncle is sick and so he won’t come.” Jessica said.
Annie was not that surprised. Her brother, whatever happens tells to Jessica. She wondered if her brother told her about the fight he had with Andrew.
“Jess… Did he tell you about the fight?” Annie asked as they walked across the road.
“Yeah I do know Ann” Jessica said.
Wow! Is her brother like her messenger or something that he tells almost each and everything to her? Annie rolled her eyes.
She and Jessica talked until they reached school.
“Bye Annie! See you at the end of school.” Jessica said and smiled.
“Alright! Bye!” Annie said and went to her class.
It’s not that she disliked Jessica or something but she was a bit too… Curious to know everything that happened at her home.
Annie walked to her classroom. She kept her bag down and then outside.
“Hey Annie!” Called her a girl from behind.
Annie turned around and saw her bestie Kate standing there.
“Hey!” Annie said and smiled.
Kate came running and hugged her.
“I missed you.” Kate said as she pulled back.
“Me too.” Annie said.
Annie and Kate were childhood besties. They grew up together. She had known each other since forever. They would share each other’s happiness and sadness, sometimes fought as well but who besties don’t! They understood each other better than anyone on this earth. Both of them went through everything together never leaving each other’s side.
“Where have you been?” Annie asked as they both sat on the bench nearby.
“I went off to my Grandmas place. You tell what new news?” Kate asked Annie and smiled.
“Nothing new. Another guy after me. Daniel fought with him when he said bad things about me. And yes I created a new account on the Friendsbookster.com.” Annie replied and smiled.
“Oh yeah! I saw it! You had added me. By the way who is that Eric?” Kate asked eyeing her.
“He’s a friend.” Annie replied.
“Only a friend or something else?” Kate asked laughing.
“Yes only a friend.” Annie said matter-of-factly.
“Come on Annie. Look at yourself! You’ve turned red.” Kate said laughing even harder.
Without actually realizing Annie had actually turned red.
“It’s the s-sun you know.” Annie said trying to make an excuse.
“Really? Whom are you fooling? Me? Come on!” Kate said glaring at her.
“Oh come on! Let’s go inside. Class is about to start.” Annie said as she got up and tried convincing Kate to go inside because she knew that if she stayed any longer here she’ll turn tomato red and then there would be no excuse to be made.
“Fine.” Kate sighed and got up.
“But believe me you have some feeling for him and I know.” Kate said as she walked towards their class.
“WHAT?!” Annie said as she stood her dumbstruck by what Kate had just said.
Annie knew nothing of it was true but somewhere she was actually confused on this. She felt her heart and mind totally confused. No matter how hard she tried to deny this thing of not liking Eric but her heart did not agree with her. This was a totally new feeling for her. She did not know how to react to this feeling. She took a deep breath and sighed.
She reminded herself that she was in school and this was no time to think all these things.
“Annie?” Kate waved to her.
“Where have you lost? Come! It’s time.” Kate said smiling and pointing t in the direction of their class.
“Coming!” Annie called out and then went to her class.
She did not know what she and her heart wanted.
Too confusing for her. She had no idea what to do.
