She sighed heavily. Would they ever stop moving from state to state? From Pennsylvania, to LA, to Michigan, back to Pennsylvania, all in the span of a few years.

She ran a hand through her messy, h/c hair, as she slung a bag over her shoulder. She hated moving more than she hated school, and that was saying something.

A small clatter was heard as a framed Polaroid dropped to the ground. Looking down, a smile spread across her face. Bending down to pick up the photo, she looked at it for the first time in ages.

It showed a boy, laying in the sun, holding red tulips and smiling lightly. Everytime she looked at the photo, it took her back to the scene. The bright flowers, the smell of freshly cut grass, and the gentle warmth of the sun.

"Y/n, it's time to go." Her mother said softly, putting a hand on the girls shoulder. They were finally going back to their home town, and it felt as the teen could finally breathe.

"You can go on ahead. I'll be there in a second." She said. Part of her was relieved to be leaving, the other part was feeling sentimental.

The young girl had many memories in this house. Some good, some bad, but all memories. Now, she stood alone in her old bedroom, trying to part with it.

"Goodbye, Michigan. See ya never..." She said to herself, turning around to grab the door handle. It had only hit her a few minutes ago, but she wouldn't see this place again.

She swung the door open, stepping outside with all the confidence and happiness she could muster. She had to admit, she was going to miss the aura of the place.

"New city, new me..." She mumbled to herself, walking to the car.

"Ready?" Her mother called. She looked up with a smile and nodded. This was the first time she'd felt excited about moving. Usually, it was a bitter moment. She had to say goodbye to her temporary friends and go somewhere else.

"Ready as I'll ever be.."

He gazed out of the window with a grim look. The voices of his friends filled the air.

"Hey, what's wrong Robin?" His friend asked gently, breaking him from his daydream.

"The flowers are dying..." He said in a sad tone. His friend put a hand on the boy's shoulder.

"Aww, I'm sorry. I know how much you love the pink ones."

"They're zinnias." He informed in a flat voice. He planted flowers every year without fail. It was his favorite hobby. Gardening was one of the only things he found enjoyable.

"I'm not sure why you like those things." The blonde beside him said. To be honest, he wasn't sure why he liked them either.

"They remind me of someone..."

"Robbie! August! Look!" The familiar voice of their friend called. As Robin turned, he say the boy holding a giant spider.

"WHAT THE HELL ASHER!?" They both screamed. There stood the small boy, holding a golden orb spider gently.

"Isn't it cute?" He asked, seemingly oblivious to the how the teens were freaking out.

Asher was a short guy with black hair. He had a thing for seemingly everything creepy and crawly. Despite his interest in everything "horrible" he was incredibly innocent and kind hearted.

A small laugh was heard from the corner of the room. They turned there heads to face Blair, the only female of the group.

She was a classic mean girl. She had pink dyed hair and misleading soft brown eyes. They made ber face look kind, but she was almost the exact opposite.

Y/n exhaled deeply as she stepped into her new home. It felt as if nothing had changed from when she left. 4 years into the future and it was still the same.

"Maybe a certain boy will still be here." Her mother said hopefully. Her mother had always like Robin. It was the only one of her friends her mother had ever approved of.

"If we're being realistic, they probably blew this town years ago." She said, picking up a box. She headed down the hallway quickly, trying to claim the biggest room first.

Her mother laughed at her childish antics and sighed. Her daughter still hadn't grown up. It always felt like nothing ever changed in that town.

"Hey mom, can I unpack later? I wanna go see what's been going on without me." The e/c eyed girl asked. Not waiting for a response, the girl threw on her favorite hoodie and left.

5:00 P.M.

I walked down the road, clutching my bag. I don't know why I still carried that old thing around. I guess old habits die hard.

As I walked, I came upon a small cafe. I inhaled deeply, taking in the smell of freshly baked sweets and coffee. If I were to find any if my old friends from this town, it would be here.

I pushed open the oak door, being greeted with the pleasant smell of the baked goods. We used to come to this café to hang out. On the windowsill sat a vase of flowers that had been there for years. I was convinced they were plastic.

"Y/n? I thought you moved like 4 years ago!" I was met with an enthusiastic, yet familiar voice. I turned and smiled. It was the old cashier, Margo. I used to come here and grab a coffee before school.

"I take it you're surprised to see me." I said with a smile. She grinned back, pulling me in for a hug.

"It's nice to see you again."
