Kara walked into school with a nervous smile on her face.

Kara and her adoptive family recently moved away from National City to Central City and Kara was hopeful she could make some friends in Central City.

Alex on the other hand was mad that she had to move away from National City where all of her friends were. Where her life was.

Sadly, based on the first few lessons in Kara's school, nothing was different to National City for Kara, and the same applied to Alex.

Kara had no friends from her first 3 lessons of the day. Nobody even talked to her. It was the same old same old, answer everything easily during maths class but do horribly in English and history.

Alex on the other hand made friends with a girl called Iris and hung out with her for the day.

At lunch time Kara sat alone at a table in the cantine and ate her lunch in silence, like her routine was in National City. Kara wished for a friend, someone who could just understand her.

A boy then approached Kara and introduced himself.

"Hi, I'm Barry, anyone sitting here?" He asked.

Kara stared into his amazing deep sea green eyes before looking at the rest of his face. He was a handsome boy with neatly combed hazel hair, but the one thing that Kara was drawn to was his eyes. His mesmerising green eyes. Kara then realised she was staring and snapped out of her trance.

"Oh, hi, I'm Kara. No, nobody is sitting here." Kara said.

"Oh well, do you mind if I sit here?" Barry asked.

"No, not at all." Kara said.

"So what are you doing here alone?" Barry asked.

"I'm new here in Central City." Kara said.

"Oh. Well at least now you have a friend." Barry said.

A friend? Kara thought.

"Uh, why would you want to be my friend?" Kara asked.

"Why wouldn't I want to be your friend?" Barry countered.

Kara was stumped by this. Nobody wanted to be her friend. That was the way it was, she never questioned why.

"Nobody wants to be my friend." Kara said sadly.

"Excuse me? I want to be your friend." Barry joked, "plus, if nobody wants to be your friend, then everyone is probably stupid."

"Thanks." Kara said simply.

"Anyway, what do you like to do in your free time?" Barry asked, trying to make small talk.

"I like to look at the stars." Kara replied.

"You like to look at the stars? Why?" Barry asked.

"They remind me of my parents. My parents died in a fire when I was young, and they always took me to look at stars, so in a way, the stars remind me of them." Kara said, which was partly the truth. Her parents did die in a fire that also killed all her biological family, and the stars did remind Kara of her parents. Kara wasn't sure why she was sharing all this with Barry, but she felt comfortable talking to Barry.

"Oh. My mom was murdered and my dad was wrongfully convicted for it. I know you are going to think I'm crazy, but there was a lightning storm in my house the day mom mom was killed, and a man in the lightning killed my mom." Barry said.

"I believe you." Kara said, making Barry's face light up.

"Really?" Barry asked.

"Yeah, if Superman exists, then why can't this man in the lightning exist?" Kara reasoned.

Barry smiled, making Kara's knees feel weak. If Kara wasn't sitting down, she was sure she would have collapsed.

The school bell then rang.

"Oh, that's the bell, which class do you have now?" Barry asked.

"Science, you?" Kara asked, checking her schedule.

"Oh, even I have science." Barry replied.

"Where is it?" Kara asked.

"I forgot, your new in Central City,  just follow me." Barry said, gesturing for Kara to follow him.

A/N No, I am not starting this story and stopping my other one. I did this because I was procrastinating on my science hw. Maybe I'll continue it in a few weeks time...
