Chapter 10 - Bad Advice

Barry listened to the ringing sounds of his phone, until it reached voicemail. Instead of leaving a message, he cut the phone.

"Who are you calling?" Iris asked.

"Kara. Do you think I should tell her that I'm The Flash?" Barry asked

"No. Do you think you can trust her? Didn't she, like, leave without any warning or goodbye." Iris said.

"Yeah, but I'm sure she has a reason for that. And I get that Kara probably isn't ready to share that reason with me." Barry said.

"So until she shares that reason with you, you shouldn't tell her that you're The Flash." Iris said.

"I guess so. But I still feel like I can trust her." Barry said.

"You asked for my opinion right? I've given it, and wether or not you take it into your decision, not my problem." Iris said.

"Alex, I need your help." Kara said over the phone.

"Supergirl or Kara Danvers help?" Alex asked.

Kara sighed. "Kara Danvers."

"That's my favourite type of help. It has a lot less fighting." Alex said.

"Yeah." Kara said.

"What are the troubles today in Kara's world?" Alex asked.

"I don't know if I should tell him that I'm Supergirl." Kara said.

"You shouldn't" Alex said.

"Why though? He defended Supergirl in front of Iris. He likes Supergirl, and wouldn't be freaked out or stuff if I tell him." Kara said.

"Kara, liking Supergirl is different to actually being her friend. So you were lucky with James and Winn, but if Barry freaks out, what are you going to do? You'd lose a friend. Now you can do what you want, but I don't think you should tell Barry that you're Supergirl." Alex said.

"No but there's something else too." Kara said.

"That Barry Allen is The Flash?" Alex asked.

"How did you know?" Kara asked.

"I'm a special agent, and the DEO may or may not have spied on him. But don't worry, only Hank and I know that Barry is the Flash." Alex said.

"So The Flash told me that he is Barry, but Barry never told me that he's The Flash. That's because he told Supergirl me, not me, me. Why would he tell me that if he is someone who doesn't like Supergirl?" Kara asked.

"I never said he doesn't like Supergirl. Working with Supergirl is different to being friends with her. And Kara, don't you remember high school? You fell in love with him, if you get closer to him by telling him who you are, who you really are, you might fall in love with him all over again. And he's with Iris, the girl of his dreams, the hottest girl in school. It'll only cause pain." Alex said.

"I've already fallen for him!" Kara shouted.

"Y-You've fallen for Barry Allen?" Alex asked.

"Yes! Do you know any other Barry's that are dating any other Iris'?" Kara asked.

"I'm so sorry." Alex said softly, hugging Kara. "I'm so sorry."

"What do I do know?" Kara asked, with a tear trailing down her cheek.

"Nothing. You need to put distance between yourself and Barry. Every time you see him, you're going to feel more pain. I don't know what being in love feels like, but I know what breakups are like." Alex said.

"Hey Kara!" Barry said, walking up to her at Noonan's in the afternoon. It was a day after Barry talked to Iris, and he decided he wanted to tell Kara that he was the Flash despite what Iris said.

"Hi." Kara said.

"So I need to tell you something." Barry said.

"Barry I think we need to put some distance between each other." Kara said, on the verge of tears.

"Like a friend-break-up?" Barry asked, his smile dipping.

"Yeah." Kara said.

"What? Why?" Barry asked.

"Don't make this harder than it is. Just please put some distance between us." Kara said.

"At least tell me why? I thought friends had to stay together through everything! If it's because you think I'm keeping secrets from you, I'm not. I was just waiting for the right time to tell you that I'm The Flash." Barry said.

"That's not why. Just..." Kara said, walking away quickly, before breaking down in tears a few blocks away.
