Tawnykit padded into the medicine den where he could hear a cat talking to Emberkit
"it'll only sting for a second and then it'll be fine"
As Tawnykit walked further into the den the two she-cats turned to look at him.
"uh Emberkit, I'm sorry for scratching your shoulder" He muffled
Emberkit looked at Tawnykit with understanding eyes
"it's fine, I was being rough and I forgot you couldn't see me" She said embarrassed
Tawnykit nodded his head "Thanks for understanding" He said turning to walk out the den.
"Oh Tawnykit! now that you're here could you help me sort out some herbs" the white she-cat said with a smile.
"Yeah okay" Tawnykit said padding over to the herb storage.
"okay can you smell this one?" she asked
Tawnykit sniffed the plant in front of him and nodded
"that's chervil, it helps with bellyaches and infected wounds. if you can put all of them in a pile over there that would be great" the she-cat said smiling.
"sure" Tawnykit said beginning to pick up some of the chervil and moving it to the pile.
"oh Tawnykit! I just realised I haven't introduced myself, I'm Poppycloud" Poppycloud mewed
Tawnykit nodded his head and went back to stocking herbs.
after awhile of helping out in the medicine den Tawnykit went back to the nursery to meet with Fleetkit and Darkkit because they said they have something important to say.
"Tawnykit!" Fleetkit said excitedly
Tawnykit slowly padded up to the two young Toms
"yeah? what is it?" Tawnykit asked
"well, I heard Sparrowstar talking with the deputy Ashcry about some apprentices moving up and I think she was talking about us!"
Tawnykit smiled as wide as he could, he was looking forward to being an apprentice and going hunting with a mentor. As Tawnykit was thinking he heard Sparrowstar call from the top of the highrock:
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the highrock!"
suddenly Tawnykit was lifted up by Ashcry who was also carrying her kit Darkkit and carried over to the highrock with the others.
"Now, today we have 4 kits who have reached 6 moons" Sparrowstar announced.
"Tawnykit, Darkkit, Emberkit and Fleetkit, you have all reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Tawnypaw, Darkpaw, Emberpaw and Fleetpaw. Tawnypaw, your mentor will be Stonemask, Darkpaw yours will be Whitewhisker, Emberpaw your mentor will be Ashcry and Fleetpaw, yours will be Honeyoak. I hope they will pass on everything they have learned on to you." she announced
"Stonemask please come up."
Stonemask walked up onto the highrock and dipped his head to the leader
"Stonemask,you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Nightfall, and you have shown yourself to be Loyal and Strong. You will be the mentor of Tawnypaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Him."
Stonemask nodded and walked over to touch noses with Tawnypaw and the two walked down from the highrock. while the others were being apprenticed Tawnypaw was thinking. Something felt off about his apprenticeship, but everything was done correctly he was sure of it. He decided to put it at the back of his mind while he congratulated his friends on becoming apprentices.
