Chapter 4: How Did This Happen?

Even though Avery is a grown 24 year old woman, she still has to sneak out to hang out with her friends like a 16 year old.

Connor parked his car right outside the house.

he squinted his eyes "what is she doing?" He said to himself, referring to Avery climbing out of her window trying to get on a ladder.

She went down the ladder slowly and headed to his car, his face was in his hands from laughter.

"Why are you laughing?" She chuckled.

"Well why are you climbing out of your window?"

"Don't ask" she sighed and buckled up.

The drive was cheerful and humorous, opposite from Travis's.

"So where are you taking me anyways?" She asked.

"I know this really nice Chinese place..hope you like Chinese food."

"I love Chinese food oh my god!" She exclaimed "we have so much in common.." She thought to herself

"Alright we're here" he said as they unbuckled and walked out of the car.

As they walked in, Avery looked around and observed the place carefully.

It was very crowded, main colours were red and gold, it had some cool gold statutes of cats in the corners.

It wasn't local, but it also wasn't fancy, which is good.

They sat down at their table, a few minutes later a waitress approached them and took their order.

They both ordered Kung Pao Chicken (It's a Chinese dish)

They were talking about the things they love, the conversation wasn't dry like it is when she's talking with Travis.

What she liked most about him is his confidence, how he just saw her in that elevator and just asked her out.

She knows it's wrong, but she couldn't help but compare everything about him with Travis, and how she just concluded that he's better than him.

The waitress gave them their food, and as they were eating, Avery gets a call from Riley.

"I'll be right back" she said and walked off to talk.

As she picked up her call, she heard her heaving breathing and panting.

"Hello?" Avery said.

"OH MY GOD AVERY I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE THIS RIGHT NOW I'M SO ANGRY-

"Woah woah calm down what's wrong??" Avery said, worryingly.

"Avery..I was late to my flight because I got harrased at the airport by a karen for carrying Cheetos in my bag,I flew all the way to Washington, I had to walk five miles because my stupid driver didn't know where he was going and crashed his car I had no service, and ALL of that, to find out that the clients Connor was talking about were two crackheads wearing saggy pants smoking in a stolen van?" She vented

"Wait...what? Are you kidding?"

"DOES IT SOUND LIKE I'M KIDDING? I'M GONNA KILL HIM" she yelled.

"Woah Riley calm down it's not his fault...im sure Evelyn is behind this.." She tried to calm her down.

"What is all that loud noise where even are you?" She asked.

"I'm kind of..on a date right now..with Connor.."

"Well what the hell are you doing with that douchebag? Leave!" She said

"Riley I'm telling you he probably had nothing to do with this.."
