The next day, Virgil didn't talk to anyone. He didn't talk to Remus or Janus, he didn't talk to Roman and he didn't talk to the teachers. He shrunk inside of himself and this made him a key target for bullies. Before, no one had dared bully him because they were all scared of Remus and his model Morningstar but now that Virgil was alone, he was probably one of the biggest targets in school. By the end of the day, Virgil had already had one panic attack and had been sent to Medical with a bruised eye. Janus wanted to help Virgil but Remus seemed to have made a resolution that he wasn't going to help Virgil until he apologised for having human feelings.

"Hot Topic! Hey, Hot Topic! Wait up!" This only made Virgil walk faster, away from Roman. "Virgil, WAIT!" This was the first time Roman had shouted at Virgil and the first time he had used his real name so this made Virgil falter out of surprise. This little stop gave Roman just enough time to catch up with Virgil. "Are you alright?" Virgil pulled his hood further down one side of his face at the question and started walking away again. Roman caught his arm and pulled Virgil closer to him to inspect his eye. "I saw what he did to you." He said, letting Virgil go. "I don't get why they've just suddenly started bullying you now. Why not at the beginning of the year?"

"Because at the beginning of the year, I had friends." Virgil snapped "And now, thanks to you, I have none."

"How is it thanks to me?" Roman asked, confused.

"Ask Remus. He'll be more than happy to tell you, I'm sure." This made Roman laugh. "I already asked him. He said nothing. So what is it?" Virgil shook his head and continued walking, Roman keeping in pace with him this time. "Leave me alone." Virgil muttered. Roman didn't. "What is it? Tell me, Hot Topic. Please." Virgil shook his head firmly. "If you don't tell me, I'll have to find out another way." This made Virgil laugh humourlessly. "Fine. You want to know?" Roman nodded eagerly. "Fine. I love you and I hate you and it doesn't make sense. You keep me up all night and then when I see you in the day I want nothing to do with you. I hate that I love you. Are you happy now?" Virgil asked and without waiting for an answer, walked off.
