Beater

We were walking in the forest to the boss room discussing our plan as the sun shone down on us.

"We loners are to target the guard mobs called Ruin Kobold Sentinels." Kirito stated.

"I know." Asuna said as I equipped my single handed sword I had. Kirito seem to look at it for awhile before continuing.

"I'll deflect their pole axes with a sword skill, so switch in at that moment." Kirito said.

"I'm sticking to my sword unless I need to change, got it Asuna?" I said to her quietly. She nodded but soon asked Kirito.

"Switch?" She questioned.

"Could this be your first time in a party?" Kirito questioned.

"Yes... My friend-"

"Virus. He knows so there isn't a point in hiding." I stated.

"Virus... Is more of a solo player. He helps me level time to time and gives me most of the last hits." Asuna stated. Soon Kirito stopped and I could feel a aura of depress around him. Soon we reached the boss room and we stopped infront of the doors.

"Listen up, everyone. I have just one thing to say. Let's win! Here we go!" Diabel stated.

Soon the doors open and everything was dark and in the middle of the room right at the end I could see the boss. His eyes opened to show it was shining red. As Diabel's group walked ahead the room suddenly shined with a bright light making the room easier to see. It was a huge. The boss suddenly jumped forward and landed making a huge dust cloud before roaring and calling the Sentinals.

"Commence attack!" Diabel yelled and we charged, "Squad A! Squad C! Switch!"

Diabel shouted orders as we handled the guards.

"Switch!" Kirito yelled and Asuna charged forward and defeated the guard. Soon a guard appeared and Kirito ran towards it. Soon the boss roared and I looked over to see the boss was in the red zone. It threw away it's weapons and it took out-

"That isn't a talwar!" I cursed, "It's a nodachi!"

Kirito seemed to have noticed as well.

"No stop! Jump back as far as you can!" Kirito yelled but it was too late. The boss had already done it's damaged.

"Asuna!" I yelled and took out my katars. She looked over and nodded. I ran towards the boss while I saw Kirito ran towards Diabel. I ran up behind the boss and slashed down making it roar out in pain. It soon turned towards me an roared before charging at me. Soon I saw Kirito charging at the boss with Asuna.

"The plan is the same with the Sentinals!" Kirito shouted and I nodded. I jumped back as the boss used a skill. Kirito took my place and  used his skill to make the boss's blade knock up. Asuna soon charged it and I saw the boss open it's eyes.

"Asuna!" Kirito shouted and she ducked as the blade swung above her, ripping her cloak to shreds. She looked up at the boss and striked it from the side. Soon the boss managed to knock Kirito back, who fell into Asuna. I attacked the boss from the side to get it's attention and it worked. I dodged it while eyeing Kirito and Asuna without knowing the boss had a powerful attack skil coming at me. Before I could block I saw Agil deflect the attack.

"We'll hold him off until they recover!" Agil stated and I nodded and followed him. I ducked under the blade and slashed at the boss. The others tried attacking the boss only to have their blades deflected and for them to be thrown back. He soon jumped up and got ready to strike. I activated my katar skill and jumped up and landed on it's blade. I ran up it's arm and dug my claws into it's side and jumped off changing the direction it fell in.

"Asuna!" Kirito yelled and I jumped away from the boss who was now getting up, "One last hit! Help me out!"

Soon they charged at the boss and I watched. Before I knew it the boss was defeated. I gave a sigh of relief and a small smile under my mask. I tightened the strings of my mask and I walked towards Kirito.

"You okay?" I questioned and he nodded. I saw he had gotten the last attack bonus and gave him a smile, not that he could see.

"Good work. That was some remarkable swordsmanship. This victory belongs to you." Agil stated and I nodded in agreement.

"No..." Kirito muttered but everyone had started clapping.

"Why?" I heard Kibaou shout, "Why... Why'd you let Diabel-han die?"

"Let him die?" Kirito questioned.

"Exactly! You knew the boss's moves! If you shared what you knew beforehand, he wouldn't have died!" He yelled.

"He must have been a beta tester!" Someone shouted, "That's how he knew the boss's attack patterns. He knew, but didn't tell us! And he's not the only one, is he? Admit it, beta testers!"

"You have to hate how stupid people are these days..." I said outloud making all of them pay attention to me, "This is why I had never believed in humanity. People are too blinded by their hate and jealousy to know what is truly important right now."

"What was that?!" Kibaou shouted glaring at me. I pulled down my hood and took off my mask.

"I am Virus. The hacker everyone has talked about. Most of you said I had left am I correct? That I have abandoned everyone in this death game. The truth was that most beta testers wouldn't know about that weapon and it's skill as it was only because he had fought plenty of katana-wielding monsters on floors far above this one." I said now very serious, "If you were a beta tester, how could you know that floor 8 monster skills will be on floor one?"

"C-Cheater!" He shouted.

"Cheater?" Kirito said sounding demonic, "Don't put me in that catagory. I am way worse. I know more than any information broker."

"Forget about being a beta tester! You both are cheaters! A cheater!" He screamed.

"Yeah, a cheater!"

"Both a beta tester and cheater... so you're a beater!"

I chuckled at the name they had given, "As if. Kirito may be a beater as you called but don't forget. I am Virus and I will only be Virus. I was never a beta tester. I am the best hacker there is and there is nothing you can do."

" 'Beater'... That's not a bad name. That's right. I'm a beater. From now on, don't think of me as a mere beta tester." Kirito stated and he wore the cloak of midnight. Smirking before walking away. I followed him to the next level.

"Wait." I heard Asuna said, I put my mask back on and tightened the string, "During the battle, you said my name, right?"

I decided to walk ahead as I am pretty sure it didn't involve me. I started farming getting stronger.
