Daytime 4: Fear in High Gear

Madeline was pretty weak. She couldn't do much as of now... She was about ready to die where she stood... Then, suddenly, she heard voices of Mike and the manager. She quickly looked up.

"Now's my chance!" Madeline thought, then winced. "I... have to hurry..."

Madeline winced in pain, then weakly whimpered out her plea...

"S-Someone..." She coughed. "H-Help... M-Me..."

Madeline heard the sound of running footsteps, then saw Mike and the manager arrive. Mike's eyes were wide, terrified.

"Madeline!" Mike ran to her, tears filled his eyes. "Wh-What happened to you...?!"

Madeline winced. "I-I was attacked..." She coughed up some blood before looking at Mike. "I-It hurts... M-Mike..."

Mike was now terrified. He tried to get the knife that pinned her to the wall out, but it was stuck. Tears were flooding his eyes.

"Let me try." The manager said calmly as he grabbed the knife. "Here goes nothing."

The manager kept pulling and pulling on the knife. He sighed in disappointment.

"It won't budge..." He looked at Mike. "Go call 911. Now!"

Mike did as told and went to the phone. He was talking to the person on the 911 line, speaking in terrible, shaky sobs. He stayed on the line with her until the ambulance and police arrived. The police arrived and managed to get the bloodstained knife out of Madeline's abdomen, and the ambulance was able to escort her to the hospital.

Mike went with the ambulance, not wanting to leave Madeline alone for one moment. Tears were flooding his eyes, fear and grief filled him.

"H-Hang in there M-Madeline..." He said with a sob. "P-Please don't die on m-me now..."

Mike took Madeline's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. Madeline's eyes were closed, but she felt Mike's touch... It felt safe to her... Mike let go of her hand so the nurses could do whatever they could until they went to the hospital.

Once there, the doctor and a few nurses tended to her. Mike was very worried, pacing back and forth. He gained a sigh of relief once the doctor told him that Madeline was fine.

It seemed Mike fell in love with the Shy Fighter...
