Those words kept repeating over and over again.
...a body was found a couple blocks away from a local closed down skate park...
...two bullet wounds...
...body has been hidden for 2 days...
...shot at approximately 1:30 am...
"Honey? Are you okay? Reece is honking for you!" My mom says getting out of my daze. Fuck.
"Yea, yea, just nervous, want to be the head flier ya know?" I lie, well I do want to be head flier this year.
"Okay sweetheart, love you."
"Love you too!" I said, grabbing my duffle bag and running out to Reece's car.
"Bitch hurry the fuck up! Did you hear?" Cass says while I hop in the backseat today.
"The news this morning?" I asked.
"Yes! It's really bad!" Reece says.
"I know, what the fuck are we gonna do?! We have a possible murder weapon on us!" I whisper yelled as Reece started to drive to the field.
"Come again?" Oh. I'm guessing they didn't see the news that I saw.
"We were about to tell you that the weather is gonna be damp and gross today." Cass remarks.
"Yeah, a murder weapon? Sounds far fetched. Are you sure the hot summer nights aren't seeping into your brain?" Reece says. They don't believe me. I groaned at them and turned on Reece's radio.
"Hey! My car means my radio s-" I interrupt him.
"Shut up! Listen."
"It's Mark coming to you with breaking news! Last night, a body was found a couple blocks away from a local closed down skate park, with two bullet wounds."
Reece short stopped the car making us all pull forward.
"Experts say that the body has been hidden for 2 days. Shot at approximately 1:30am. A murder like this has not happened since 1976. Police will be on this case like hawks. Please do not roam the streets of Los Angeles very late at night. The horrible person is still out there!"
Reece and Cass are just silent.
"Now you believe me?" I say crossing my arms.
"Oh fuck, yes.Guys! I knew we should have brought it to the police!" Cass says.
"Well, it's too late now! Now that they are most likely looking for it!" Reece says.
"Hate to agree but Reece is right. Are they really going to believe three teenagers?" I say.
"Ugh, fine! Maybe it's a different gun. I don't know. Let's just not bring it up until some other news comes. I'll lose my shit for sure." Cass says.
"Yea, plus, we are almost late for tryouts." Reece says and steps on it trying to get to our tryouts on time.
Thankfully we made it and tried to forget about the news this morning. But it was hard when everyone was talking about it.
"Dude, did you hear the news? I have to be home by 9:30 now!" one of the cheerleaders said.
"Ugh, yea, with that murder, my mom is hella strict now." another said, so much for not talking about it.
Cass and I put our stuff down and head towards our coach while Reece sprints to Coach Perez.
