"He's here again," a nurse pointed whispered to her co-worker as they watched a certain white-haired man, whose body was full of scars, was seen holding onto a bouquet of flowers, walking down the same pathway he had been walking almost twice every week.
"How long has it been? Since that patient has been in a coma?" her co-worker asked, and she could only sigh as she easily lifted up her fingers.
"2 months?" the co-worker asked, and she could only shake her head in response.
"2 years," she whispered out, and her co-worker could only look as Sanemi continued to make his way down the path he got so familiar with for the past two years.
"He's very patient," she whispered out, and the nurses could only hum in response.
"Her brothers have been dropping by as well, but not as often as him," the nurse pointed out, and they could only watch as Sanemi stood in front of the ward where [name] laid for the past two years of her life.
Shinazugawa Sanemi, a high school graduate, who was now working as a mathematics teacher at the high school where he used to attend, Kimetsu Academy.
"Two years..." he whispered out and sighed as he looked at [name]'s body, still not moving at all. He had taken the day off to spend the day with her, given how today was the final day they were allowed to see her.
They would be pulling the plug today.
Shinazugawa Sanemi could only bite his lips then as he slowly slid open the door, and slid it closed behind him as he walked towards where [name] continued to lay in the bed. He sighed as he replaced the flowers he had bought previously and placed the new ones instead.
After doing so, he proceeded to take a seat on the chair as he grabbed hold of her hand, which was terribly cold after all this time. He looked at her features, nothing has changed. She didn't age, but he could tell how her hair had grown out.
"Hey... Do you remember? The first time we talked on the phone when you were crying your heart out because of what that bastard did to you? I remember it. So clearly," he whispered out, as he gently caressed [name]'s hand with his thumb.
"It was love at first words," he whispered out.
"What the fuck? Who is this girl, crying to me?" Sanemi muttered to himself as he laid in bed. Clearly exhausted as to what was going on as he had just finished tutoring Genya mathematics and was just about to relax and head to bed, only to receive a random call from a random phone number.
He could only lay in bed as he continued to hear the stranger's sobs. Part of him wanted to hang up, but a bigger part of him decided not to. Believing that good thing will happen to those who wait, and he waited.
And soon, he heard her speak.
"Are you still there?" she whispered out, and Sanemi's pale purple eyes could only widen as he heard her speak. How her voice was so gentle and clear despite crying so badly. He could feel the pain and emotions rising from her voice.
Which eventually led to him speaking a sentence he thought he would never say.
"Don't cry already. I can't be there to hug you, but I wish I could be," and his heart pounded hard against his chest as he heard her let out a shaky chuckle, believing she was smiling at what he had said.
And when she had introduced herself as [name], Sanemi knew, he had fallen for her.
"That's a beautiful name, [name],"
"I fell in love with you the moment I heard your voice. It was so soothing, so calming. It felt as if your voice was meant for me to hear, and solely me. Yet, God is being cruel now. Taking you away from me despite having you so near to me," he whispered out as he continued to caress her hands.
