"Did you take your medicine this morning Marie?" I heard my mom ask.

"Yeah sure" I told my mom.

"Come on Marie, lighten up"

Lighten up. That is what everyone has been telling my to do. Lighten up. How do they expect me to "lighten up" when I live in a hospital room so I can get the cancer treatment that I need. They all need to "lighten up" on me so I can do what I want. I am sick of living in this hospital! All I do is read and watch tv and get sympathy from my friends and family. I don't want their sympathy, I want to be cancer free.

Sorry if I sound like some stuck up spoiled brat but after two whole years of this, I am getting sick of everything.

Before I continue telling you about my boring life, let me tell you a bit about myself. I am fourteen years old. I am 5 feet tall on the dot. I have no hair due to my cancer treatment, but I have a wig that has long straight light brown hair with side bangs. I have pale skin, but I always wear a little makeup to make myself look a little more tan.

In my family, it is me, my parents; Grace and Matthew, and my two older brothers; Brian and Josh. My parents and my brothers live an hour away from the hospital I stay at, so I don't see them a lot, but my mom is here everyday.

So that's basically my life right now.

Currently, I am looking out the window of the hospital room. I love the view because I get to see the park. I love watching all the kids run and play, something I can't really do anymore. I also love the faces of the kids when their parents buy them balloons from the balloon man.

Today, the balloon man has all different colored balloons. Although, I only see one red one. That balloon is currently being held by a toddler boy, who catches my glance. as we continue to stare at each other, I feel a certain emotion I can't currently put a name on, but it is very strong.
