Robert stared at the clock.
Four hours and his parents still didn't call him.
This wasn't normal.
He checked his phone again.
No missed calls.
Robert got up from the bed and accidentally stepped on a broken beer bottle.
It shattered everywhere.
"Shoot mate," Randy said, coming into the room. "You're a mess."
"Oh, you think I didn't notice?"
Randy smiled and shook his head. "You need to stop with the drinking, Bob."
Robert took another sip. "No."
"Dude-"
"No."
Randy sighed and shook his head again. "Anyways, I invited the girls for a movie."
"Meh, okay. When do we leave?"
Randy rolled his eyes. "Now."
Robert groaned.
"I'll leave you to it, mate. You better clean up that bottle too."
"Why are you still drinking?!"
Robert sighed. "Look Cherry, I know you told me to-"
"Robert," Cherry said, completely serious.
"Yes?"
"Marcia and I are not coming with your guys if you have that," she pointed at the booze, "on you."
"But-"
"No buts. You remember last time? Yeah, it's gonna be just like that again but with more people," she held her hand up, linked arms with Marcia and walked away.
Robert ran to her and grabbed her arm. "Cherry, stop being so difficult-"
"I'm being difficult?" Cherry laughed humorlessly. "You're the one who started drinking and dared to bring it to the movies!"
"Cherry you-"
"Yeah no, if you want us to come back, you stop that habit immediately." Cherry turned around and dragged Marcia back into the movies.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Kevin shook his head and laughed. "Girls."
The boys laughed.
"Though I did tell Bob not to bring the alcohol, he just didn't listen."
Robert rolled his eyes. "Too bad so sad, now we're just gonna have to have fun without the girls."
Robert checked his watch. "It's getting late."
"And?"
They almost drank all of the alcohol Robert brought and half of the Socs threw it right up.
"And the girls still aren't back."
"Well," said Joseph. "They did leave intentionally so they're probably not gonna come back."
"But it's getting late-"
"So?"
"...are you not worried about them-"
"They can take care of themselves, stop worrying."
Robert sighed. He wondered what the girls were doing. He hoped that they weren't being attacked-
Stop thinking about that, Bob. They can take care of themselves. They're not little babies.
He looked over at the movies and realized that the movie ended.
"Guys! We have to go pick up the girls!"
Joseph rolled his eyes. "They can do it themselves-"
Robert was already walking to the car that they came in today.
All of the boys groaned and quickly caught up to him.
Randy got behind the wheel. "Let's go for a drive, y'all."
"Why are they with the filthy Greasers?!"
Robert looked over to the girls. They were smiling.
Part of him felt relieved that Pony was okay. The other part of him screamed to beat them up again since they were talking and actually getting along with Cherry.
Robert shook away his negative thoughts and walked over to the girls with Randy.
"Are you done drinking?" Cherry asked.
"Cherry, Marcia, listen to us-"
Cherry rolled her eyes. "We don't need to hear your excuses. We had to drag you back home when you-"
"Can you stop reminding us of that-"
"Bob," said Marcia. "You gotta admit that you were so drunk that you passed out on the sidewalk. And if we weren't there-"
"You guys were the one dragged him out..." Randy murmured.
Marcia gaped. "Excuse you?!"
"Okay look, just because we got a little drunk last time-"
"A little?!" Cherry raged. "You call reeling and passing-out in the streets 'a little'? Bob, I told you, I'm never going out with you while you're drinking, and I mean it. Too many things could happen while you're drunk. It's me or the booze."
Robert sighed.
"Baby, you know we don't get drunk very often..." said Randy, trying to help Robert.
Marcia glared at him.
"And even if you are mad at us, that's no reason to go walking the streets with these bums."
At that moment, Robert regret bringing the booze and scaring Cherry and Marcia away. If he didn't get drunk before going out, Randy might've not said that.
He had a feeling that this night wasn't going to end well.
A Greaser spoke up but Robert could barely hear him with all the thoughts running inside his head.
So many possibilities of events...
Fights
Rumbles
Broken bones
Death
"...the back seat."
"If you're looking for a fight..."
Instant regret.
Robert wanted to slap himself for saying that.
The Greaser cocked an eyebrow and said something else that Robert didn't pay attention to. The Greaser grabbed an empty bottle and handed it to Pony, who looked confused and scared. He then took out a switchblade from his back pocket.
Cherry suddenly cried out. "No! Stop it!"
She looked at Robert. "We'll ride home with you. Just wait a minute."
She walked back to the Greasers and started talking again.
"Pfft," Randy blew air through his teeth. "What's so great about Greasers anyway?"
Before Robert could answer, Cherry and Marcia came back. "Okay, let's go."
