The Raven and the Robin

Ch 2: The first sights

It's the next morning after having a long night. I am half awake and the first thing I hear is my brother's squeaky and annoying voice shout, "Dylan we're going to be late! It's 7:12 and we have to show up at 7:20!!" I groaned and pulled my blanket over my head. "Dylan Kline! We are going to be late and you're my only ride!!" I break into laughter and he stares at me in confusion. "Why are you laughing?!" He said in confusion. "Mike, I'm you're only ride? Do you realize how wrong that is??" I said trying to hold the laughter. "Dylan I'm not joking!" He said with a different tone. I brushed it off and said, "You are so boring" I sticked my tongue out to annoy him. "Now get out of my room so I can get ready"

At school, only when I pulled into the school parking lot did I feel the heaviness settle in my gut. "Dylan, you alright? You've been staring at you're keys for a whole minute" Mike said worriedly by miracle. I quickly looked at him and said "Yeah I'm alright." I looked at him and turned the radio on full level. "Ah shit that's my man Juice World" I said jamming to the song. I started singing part of the lyrics of the song knowing it would annoy my brother. "She told me put my heart" I started, "In a bag, and nobody gets hurt. Now I'm running from love, I'm not fast" Mike turned the radio off. "You run away from everything actually. Wether it's love, chances, and just life itself." He opens the door, hops off, and walks off to the school front doors leaving me speechless. "What the fuck is his deal" I thought. "I hate to say this but...he's right" I thought as I slowly sunk into thought once again. "What am I really afraid of..." I thought. I sighed, brushed it off, and hopped off my car.

At the school halls, with my head in the clouds I bumped into a medium height girl with dark green eyes, waist length brown hair, a pretty face, and a skinny waist. All her books fell straight to the ground. "Ugh sorry, I can't seem to do anything right today" she said frustratedly. "No It's alright it was my bad" I bent down and picked up all of her belongings and gently handed them to her. "Thanks" she said delightedly. "It's nothing" I said as I smiled. "Can I catch you're name?" I said getting slightly closer to her. "It's Keyra" she said smiling back at me. "Ooo exotic" I said with a mischievous smile. "Gimme your numero girl" I said flirting with her in Spanish. She laughed and said, "If it wasn't because you made me laugh just be aware I wouldn't have done this" she said handing me a small paper with her number she had been storing in her phone case. "Wanted you're numero and got it ha" I said grinning. "Text me!" she said and walked off. "So fucking hot" I thought dreamily. I brushed it off and checked my schedule for my class number. Got the number, looked around, and found my classroom.

At class 3010, the teacher approached me and said, "Welcome student, I am Mrs. Tam! please check if you're name is in this very list I'm holding just to double check if you are in the class you are supposed to be on'' I nodded and checked for my name. "Right in the bottom Mrs" I said. She checked and started, "Dylan Kline?" she continued, "You look completely normal" she said in confusion. "Ah yeah about that" I sticked my demon horns and tail out. "Oh classic! A demon half human, please take a seat next to Erebus, Dylan" said the teacher. "Who's Erebus?" I said confused. "Oh of course, Erebus would you please raise you're hand so Dylan can recognize you tomorrow?" She said in a sweeter tone. A tall wendigo dude with a dog-looking skull raised his extremely unbelievably huge arm, "I am right here" he said emotionless. I looked at him while I was still processing his ginormous arm. "Um ok" I said as I took a seat in between him and another guy who was staring at me with eyes wide open. "You must be the new guy!" He said with a big smile. "My name is Shadowed Eye! What's yours?" He said excitedly. "Dylan" I said getting annoyed with the hyper Shadowed Eye. "I see you're a hybrid as well as me! This is my friend Erebus by the way" said Shadow Eye pointing at Erebus. "Hello" Erebus said with a mannered pose. "Oh hey Erebus" I said looking up. "Students," the teacher started. "I want every single pair of eyes on me. I have to explain a mandatory rule of every first day of class. DO NOT EVER have contact with a student from a different tribe! If you are caught you WILL be permanently expelled! Am I clear?" She said raising an eyebrow. Half of the class nodded while I thought, "I just hope the girl I'm literally about to text tonight isn't from the god damn Robins. I mean she does look like a bad bitch so I wouldn't be surprised if she was on my tribe." Shadowed Eye looked at me and said, "Oh god, at least you're a Raven like us!" He said in relief. "How did you know? I don't remember telling you" I said confused. "Demons always end up being in the Raven tribe because it's considered magic from the underworld, which is dark magic of course..." he said spacing off into a wall. "Ok then..." I said uncomfortably. "You have fallen right into my hands hybrid mortal" Erebus said with a big grin. "What's that supposed to mean...I'm starting to get a weird vibe from Erebus" I thought. "To add to what I said earlier, I want everyone to be aware that your dorms will be presented to you later on tomorrow along with the roommates you will be paired with, to be clear the maximum amount of roommates in the same dorm is 3. For those who are new here, yes you will be staying five days in a row in Skyhigh and then Saturday and Sunday you will be at home" The teacher said as the whole class nodded.

"Now," the teacher started. "I am having everyone present their powers and species to pass the two hours we have left of class. Anyone wanna go first?" The teacher asked as she looked around the classroom. Shadowed Eye raised his hand up high for the teacher to see. "Me! Me!" He insisted. "Of course come on up Shadowed Eye" she said with a sweet smile. Shadowed Eye stood up in front of the class and started, "Hello everyone!" He said. "I am half human half shadow demon. I can control my shadows with my head and I am in the one percent of shadow demons that have a similar aura like the shadow god! Right Erebus?" he said looking at Erebus with a smile while Erebus nodded. "Great! Dylan why don't you go next?" The teacher said grinning. "Oh of course" I said unwillingly. I stood up and said, "I'm almost completely normal except I'm half demon and I got a power" the teacher looked at me and said, "Can we see it?" She asked. "Well I cant show you Mrs." I said with a mischievous face. "Why?" She asked. "Because my power is nailing some fine shorties" I broke into laughter right after I finished that and she smiled a bit while the class was laughing out loud. "Dylan please sit" she commanded. "Ok ok I'll stop fucking around" I said as I sat. Erebus looked at me confused and said, "Unlike the hybrid mortal, I have powers I can demonstrate" he said as he held his scythe while the whole class just stared at him with fear. He stood up in front of the classroom and said, "I am death itself standing right in front of every single one of you waiting for you're times days and dates of deaths!" He said pointing his scythe at the classroom. I laughed and blurted out, "Shut the fuck up with you're skyscraper self" he pointed the sharp scythe on my neck and said, "Shut up hybrid mortal! Or I'll change your death's fate to be me the one who caused it!" I stood silent and the teacher said, "That is enough Erebus."
After that the whole classroom stood in silence for the remaining time.

After the first half day it is dismissing time and I linger in the halls for Keyra. "Bye Dylan!" Shadowed Eye told me as he waved bye at me. Erebus just stares at me while he makes his way out the front doors. Keyra made her way to me and said, "Waiting for someone?" She said with a grin. "Haha very funny because I wasn't" I said sarcastically. "Wow ok I see how it's gonna be" she said with a fake sad face. "Aw sorry" I said with a smile. "I was definitely waiting for you shorty" I said with a wink. "You better have been" she said and smiled. "So, text you tonight?" I said biting my lips gently. "Yeah I'm available" she said. "Alrighty, cya tomorrow" I said as I walked off to the front doors. "Bye!" She said as she waved bye at me.

"We've lost the armory, we've lost the seven emeralds given to us by the Goddesses of Kindness, and then we lost the gem! Do you still expect to stay quiet about the robbery?!" The Robin leader said furiously. "Robin, I suggest you keep quiet about this and let me handle it myself! Every time you try to help you just get in the way!" The Raven leader said avoiding to argue. "More like you always try to do everything by yourself and we end up losing things that matter to the both of us! You were right we can never get along Raven, because of you my Robins don't want to be with the Ravens that from the same school let us all down the day the Shadow God stepped foot in our school" the Robin leader said walking off leaving the Raven leader all in regret of magic itself.

Meanwhile...

I made my way home, locked myself in my room as I usually would, and took my phone and added Keyra's number to my contacts.
