Chapter One
I opened my eyes, nothing new there, the sun was fading, the cars were still roaring past and I was still standing there looking at my battered, rain stained boots avoiding eye contact with him.
It had all changed, this never happened, not to me, not with him. We were alone, together on this busy, bustling street in London, his golden eyes they stared at me like they never did before. They stared at me like I was no longer Beth, I was his and only his.
--I was that girl who you would always wonder about, the one with the cheer full smile and the out- there fashion sense, the one everyone knew as "funny Beth" the one you would never expect to fall in love with him, the mysterious and handsome Alfie. I never wanted him but then on some level I knew I must've, he was the one everyone wanted, the one no one ever had.--
"So, err I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?"
I looked up staring at his lips moving uncertainly with each word, I lost myself there not wanting to move.
"Betthhh...?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah tomorrow... well err see you tomorrow then."
I stalked off, why was I so useless....
There's something you should really understand, I hate love, I don't believe in it and never will. Plain and simple. Yet here I was walking away from Alfie knowing full well that there will be consequences for these, these feelings. It was getting darker as I managed to clear my mind of Alfie on the way back to my deserted home. I hate winter, Christmas was over so now all that was left was the cold weather, the grey skies and the plummeting rain. Rain which had decided to beat down just as I managed to turn the corner.
The street lights hadn't turned on yet. Stupid London, it's just gone four and it's as dark as ever, yet the lights wont go on till six, genius there...
A car rolled up beside me, no one I knew owned a car so I sped up, not wanting to be mixed up in something peculiar. I managed to get to the corner before I heard noises, screams, and moans. I looked round, then it happened. I saw it. He saw me.
That was the day it all changed.
They took her, dragged her through the gate, pulled her by her hair. I will never forget those shrieks, those sounds, those unnatural, primal screams for help. That was until they saw me. My heart stopped, my breaths became jagged and I didn't have any idea what to do next. My body ran into overdrive, I fell to the ground, footsteps coming closer and closer. The last thing I saw was beautifully golden eyes, twisting into my vision.
Golden eyes, I thought, how could they be golden? Then I understood. It was Alfie, my Alfie, he came to help me. The boy who I had just spent a beautiful afternoon with, the boy who had taken me to be his, the boy who told me he loved me.
That must be it. My mind was still spinning as my body decided to boost back into action. I could smell green, its hard to describe but it was just that, green. My eyes fluttered and that's when I felt it, fingers grasping my arm. Tightly. Painfully. This wasn't right, my mind urged me to be careful.
I took a sharp intake of breath, I hissed with pain. They, or he, or Alfie heard me, and pulled tightly on my arm. I had to open my eyes, it was too late now. My eyes darted open, I was sat in a room, but it was open. My arm was still being held, so I grabbed hold to pull free.
"Stop!" He hissed, was this my Alfie, I couldn't believe it, I didn't want to.
"I'm trying to bloody help you. Stop squirming and be quiet!"
