"Haehae! Introduce me to the boys. please! You can't get to known them all by yourself." Mirae was munching on the school breakfast.
Haewon was definitely tired of this. She had told her friend for the past five minutes that she didn't know the group of boys and only met Mark yesterday. She didn't get why she wasn't leaving her alone.
"At this point, might as well revoke our friendship status. I'm tired of being lied to." Mirae had drawn her head back and placed the backnof her hand on her head. The dramatic teen had sighed so deeply it filled the room they were in. Eyes upon the pair from all angles.
"Alright, alright! Mi, there are literally twenty people staring at us, please stop." Haewon whispered, frantic in her seat. She hated attention, with her whole existence. The eyes on them rose the hairs on her skin, her throat went dry, too.
"Relax, Haehae, I'm just messing around. Besides if they're boys looking they probably think I'm drop dead gorgeous," Mirae sat up once more patting Haewon on her shoulder.
"Of course, because an ogre like you is so mesmerizing," Haewon rolled her eyes, slapping her friend's arm away.
She put her focus back on her textbook as Mirae kept rambling on like a child. Haewon liked it though. The white noise seemed to help her focus a little bit more.
Still getting bored, she looked out the window side and watched the view. The left side of the library was connected to the basket ball court, so she could see the team practicing from the elevated view.
The entire group of boys were definitely enjoying themselves. They were laughing, throwing balls at each other, and messing around in general. Taking a closer look, Haewon realized that the boys down there was indeed 127 Squad.
Her eyes moved around following the movements of one boy. His smile almost intoxicating her mind, she couldn't focus on anything else now. He is kind of cute. Haewon thought. Wait, I did not just think that right now, did I? Her face grimaced at the idea, and right on cue the said boy looked up locking eyes with her.
When the boy, Mark, saw Haewon his smile immediately shone brighter. He excitedly waved up at Haewon recieving a slight but sincere smile and wave back from her. Putting his hand down he looked up and held eye contact for a few more seconds before getting called on by Johnny.
Hesitatingly, he walked away, sneaking one more glance at the short, brown haired girl.
Did she feel flustered, happy? She didn't know. Mark's actions were so adorable to her, she couldn't even surpress her smile. She kept staring down canceling out her surroundings-
"Haehae! What are you looking at?" With the sound of Mirae's high pitched voice, she jolted out of her trance, looking at her friend.
"Huh? Oh, it was just Mark," Haewon checked the clock and noticed it was almost time for her next class. She closed her books and started to stuff her things in her bag.
"Mark? So that's who you were waving at? Now that I think about it, I've never seen you glance at a guy let alone smile," Mirae's voice trailed off in thinking looking at her friend with a smirk on her face, "Do you like him? I bet you do."
"Like him? I've only talked to him once, how do you expect me to fall for him that easily. Besides, he was waving at me it'd be rude if I didn't wave back." Haewon huffed out in a little rant, walking away from the library quickly.
"Like you would care about being rude," Mirae caught up to Haewon, attaching herself to her arm, "Since when have you willingly smiled at people?"
Haewon turned to look at Mirae lifting a finger in protest. Realization had hit her when she shook her head and put her hand down, whispering a nevermind. The girls started to laugh before going their seperate ways to their classes.
Haewon walked into her class after being lost for ten minutes straight. It may just be the second day, but she expected to have already figured the school out by now.
Scratch that. Haewon definitely doesn't have the best memory. She knew that all too well.
The class was rowdy, loud, and way too energetic for comfort. Some students were running up and down the levels of seating. Others were yelling at each other from across the room. Was this a jungle or a college class?
Haewon rubbed the sides of her temple in efforts to calm the raging headache she had been gifted. She continued walking to a seat mumbling curses to herself.
Unexpectedly, she felt a soft hand on her shoulder. She jumped and turned behind, greeted with a familiar, warm smile.
"We meet again, Miss Park," Mark's semi-deep and calming voice rang through her ears.
"Do you always talk so formal?" Haewon scoffed returning a soft grin and lifted eyebrow his way.
"Not really, but you seem to be enjoying it," Mark's cheeky smile couldn't be tamed. He rested his elbow against Haewon's shoulder and looked at her, with an equivalently raised eyebrow.
"Okay Sir Markus, whatever helps you're cringy ass sleep at night," she waved her arms up mockingly to go along with her sarcastic tone.
The two walked together and found sits right in the middle and continued to talk more. As they were deep in conversation, the proffessor walked in. Surprisingly, silence had washed over the class.
"Morning, students. Welcome to you're first year at Neo City College. You have all graduated, so I expect to be teaching a group of self sufficient young adults. My name is Kim Junmyeon and I'll be your proffesor for this sociology class," The teacher had continued to talk about the class syllabus for what seemed like an hour. Draining on throughout the class with no students giving him any attention.
"I would like to kick off this school year with a project. It's due at the end of the month and it will br in pairs. Since this is a sociology class, I want a presentation on the human bias that exist amongst the subconscious mind. The pairs must work together and mix their friend groups together for the next month. Study the situation and use it for your report. You will have other assignments and tests during this time period. Class dismissed," with that the professor went out leaving a ruptured sigh amongst the students.
Nobody got up. Haewon looked around and saw people picking partners. The laughter and talk filled the air once more. She was a little jealous. It looked so easy for everyone else to find people to work with. Though her facial expression was dull, she was panicking inwardly. Scared and uncomfortable of the sight and who'd she end up working with. Would she even find a partner? Who would work with her? How could she even start a conversation without scaring them-
"Haewon?" Mark had shoved her shoulders lightly after calling her name a few times, "Do you want to work together?"
Haewon's attention refocused her mind out if her cluttered thoughts. Nodding in agreement to Mark's proposal, "I don't mind it. We can meet up at lunch if you want to talk about how to do it later?"
A wide smile was sent across Mark's face. He could feel his heart warm at the idea of working with Haewon.
"I'm looking forward to it, Haewon."
