It was 12:30, the period was ending soon. You were stuck in band class, holding tightly onto your small piccolo. Although you played the flute, there were already enough in your class so you were forced to play as a lone piccolo since your skills were much better than the flutes in your class.

"Saxophones! The music says ritardo! Stop rushing ahead!" Your strict conductor scolded the saxophones as there was an awkward silence. "One more time, saxophones only." He began the piece with his arms up and baton in hand.

You sighed, waiting for the saxophones to finish their solo as you looked out the window in boredom. Soon the boredom disappeared as you saw a goofy Chenle looking through the window, books in hand, walking back to his locker. He instantly stopped when he met your eyes, his face growing a large smile.

His smile made your heart race as everyone else disappeared, the only people in your world were you and Chenle. You looked at him as he gave you a quick wink and a wave before walking off to his locker.

"Everyone! Ready?" Your conductor suddenly spoke as you came back into reality. Stumbling with your piccolo, you finally picked it up as you forgot all the mental notes you made throughout the music.

The bell rang shortly after you had your piccolo solo that had came up in the piece. When you packed your music and instrument away, you swore you could hear people calling you a tryhard, who knows if your brain was playing with you or not.

You quickly left, almost speeding out the classroom as you came to an abrupt stop, nearly bumping into a familiar figure right around the corner. "Huh?" You let out quietly in shock as you looked up at Chenle as he wore a devious smile.

"Scared you?" He giggled before he walked by your side as you began to walk to the band lockers to put your instrument back. "Oh, are you heading to the band department?" He questioned, "Let's go to a practice room!" He introduced as you agreed, speeding up to the department.

Once you two reached the department, he dragged you into a room that contained a grand piano. "I wanna show you something!" He exclaimed, locking the door before jumping onto the piano.

"Let's duet! I found some old music in the office with a flute and a piano, I think you can manage with that." He pointed at the tiny instrument in your hands with a kind smile. He put down the music folder down onto the music holder as he took out a few sheets, passing it over to you.

You looked at the papers as you could tell the music was very slow, sentimental, and maybe even romantic.

"Umm, I was wondering." Chenle started shyly, "Are you entering the competition with anyone?" He asked, fidgeting with his fingers, staring at the keys on the piano. "I'm not," you looked at him, giggling quietly at the shy boy.

"Really? Well, do you want to enter together? Maybe?" He turned his head towards you almost instantly, as he got more and more shy by the silence.

"Yes, I'm okay with that." You smiled at him as you could feel your face turning pink. "Will we do this piece?" You asked, excited for the upcoming competition.

"I-if you want to," he answered as his head was facing away from you but you could tell his face was bright red. It made you feel a little glad but you didn't know why.

Soon, break ended after you two rehearsed many times, you felt as if the piece wasn't right, one way or another. You weren't sure what was up with the piece, even if it was beautiful.
