Can people not tell the difference between a fake smile and a real one? They always buy the fake one and pass it off as genuine, is it even there?
People will see what they want to see. If they want to believe you're happy they'll make it seem like you are, regardless of how you actually feel.

I signed off my latest entry with a sigh, leaning back against the school wall. It was quiet, peaceful even. Was I skipping class? Yes, yes I was but it's fine we don't do anything in Science anyway, I just needed a break, a little space to clear my thoughts.
That was until I heard a familiar voice approach.
