Austin's POV
" May. Stop yelling at me! I'm doing the best I can."
I tested the milk against my skin and groaned loudly before putting it back in the microwave. After heating it up again and testing it, I finally came back into our bedroom where May was sitting in a rocking chair, cradling a red face screaming baby in her arms.
She gave me a death glare before snatching the bottle out my hands. Gently but forcefully enough she made Suzy take the bottle and thankfully, she quieted down.
I sighed and plopped down on the bed, closing my eyes for a second.
" You can't sleep if I can't sleep."
I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly to control myself from a smart comment.
" Yes love."
I sat up and watched her watching the baby. She looked at Suzy with pure love in her eyes.
" I told you you would love her."
She looked up at me and gave me a glare but smiled.
" Whatever."
Suzy finished off the bottle and May positioned her to burp her. After ten minutes of patting her back she burped but also spit up a bit.
" Fuck," she mumbled under her breath.
" Language," I said as I got her a cloth.
She groaned and mumbled something to herself.
" You know, even with baby vomit on your shirt and dark bags under your eyes and your hair in a terrible bun, you still look beautiful."
She took the cloth from me and dabbed at the spit up.
" Insult after another."
But she puckered her lips so I gave her a quick kiss.
" Well you are a mess."
I grinned at her and she threw the cloth at me, missing by a mile.
" I hope you never become a pitcher or anyone that requires throwing something."
" You're such an assho-"
" Language sweetie."
" Screw you. Go brush your funky teeth."
I laughed and thought about breathing hard in her face then thought better of it.
I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and gargled. As I was running my hands through my hair, May came up behind me and wrapped her around around me from behind.
" I put her in her crib. She's so much work."
" She's worth it though."
" Yeah. She is."
She kissed my neck gently before resting her head on my back.
" I love you May."
" Love you too."
The doorbell rang and Suzy began screaming.
" Fuck," she mumbled before removing her arms from around me, walking towards the door.
I went to pickup Suzy, rocking her gently.
" We had just finally settled her down! Why can't you call before you come?!"
I went into the living room and smiled at Chase and Bri.
" She's cranky. Ignore her," I said motioning towards May.
She gave me a death glare before plopping down on the couch.
" She's so beautiful!" Bri said in awe, coming closer to get a better look at her.
" Yeah. She's beautiful. You want to hold her? Maybe you can get her to stop crying."
She nodded eagerly and I placed Suzy in her arms, making sure her neck and head was supported right. She bobbed lightly and soon enough Suzy stopped crying. I looked at her in amazement and she gave me a grin.
" I'd be the perfect mother."
" Not yet," Chase mumbled.
I laughed and saw a smile coming up on May's face before she tried to hide it with her hand.
We all sat down and talked, occasionally stopping to stare and adore at Suzy.
" Y'all are such a perfect family."
I snorted and rested my head on May's shoulder. Her hands unconsciously went to my hair, running her hands through them slowly.
" We are far from perfect. But we're happy. Suzy is healthy. May's fine. That's all that matters."
