"A Guide to Becoming a Wizard and Gaining My First Love's Affections"
The online novel that got published into an actual book. It was everywhere, classmates were reading it, girls at the park, it was overwhelmingly popular.
Written in third-person, the story followed 16-year-old Charlotte Nanami, and her childhood friend and crush Xeth Hoshikage, from a land named Yashima, similar to Edo Japan. They were both of nobility, and discover that they have great magical powers. However, magic users are only born in Ambrosia, the land blessed by the gods. The pair travel to Ambrosia to conduct their studies on their newly-discovered magic.
There are five main types of magic in the world, Fire, Water, Air, Wood, and Earth. And based on the element, they would get separated into houses at the Academy. Fittingly, Charlotte was a fire-type magic user, while Elizabeth, was the opposite, a water type.
Elizabeth, was very popular in the Academy. Her friend group consisted of Queenie, Samantha, and Ophelia, all model students admired by many. From an outsiders point of view, they seemed like a wonderful group of friends, trusting and always there to help each other. What nobody noticed, was that Elizabeth felt out of place. Her interests clashed with her friends, and so she pretended to like the same things, however still uncomfortable in many conversations.
And then Charlotte comes into the picture. With her different appearance, with dark eyes and black hair, many were instantly attracted to the exotic beauty. She easily made herself a spot in Elizabeth's friend group. Her interests, surprise surprise melded with the girls quite well. Aa a result, Elizabeth was drifting farther and farther away from her friends. She started to feel isolated, out of place, and tried harder to get the girls to like her.
But she couldn't compete with darling Charlotte.
Torn by jealousy and her desperation to be loved, she met her doom, disowned by her family, exiled from Ambrosia. Still alone.
Meanwhile, Charlotte gains the affections of Xeth, becoming the model couple of the Academy, returning to their home country together and spending their talents to modernise Yashima.
And Elizabeth was forgotten.
The villainess was gone, it was a happily ever after.
But the real villainess was hiding behind the mask of the saintess.
