The next few days were full of nurses checking on us, reading the books my uncle brought me, and awkward yet fun conversations with Hyunjin. Since he couldn't tell me anything about himself, I ended up telling him about my life. How I used to live in Seoul, but I moved here to be with my uncle.

Today I'm getting discharged. I know I should be happy, but I feel bad for Hyunjin. Will he be ok without me translating for him?

"You're leaving now?" He asks as I pack my belongings.

"Yeah..."

I zip up my backpack and sling it over my shoulder. I don't look at him as I walk out. I make it a few feet down the hallway and stop.

How is he going to understand what the doctors are saying?

Is the little English I taught him enough?

I quickly walk back into the room. He seems surprised to see me again. I walk over to the table and write my phone number down on the hospital notepad. I rip the paper off and hand it to him.

"If you need anything... call me"

Before he can respond I walk out of the room and make my way out of the hospital.

After not being in my apartment for a week, you can imagine how nice it feels to be back home. Uncle gave me a week off so now I don't even know what to do. I flop onto my bed and lay there... just staring at the ceiling. Not even 10 minutes pass before I get a phone call.

"Hello?"

"Y/n?"

"Hyunjin?"

"Yeah- Hi..."

"Is everything ok?"

"Umm- the doctor just said I can leave..."

"Really? That's great!"

"Mhmm-"

Even through the phone, I can tell something is wrong.

"What's wrong?"

"The problem is....uhh... I don't really have a place to go. I don't remember where I was staying before the accident so—"

"Hold on. I'll go to the hospital and we can figure something out."

I hang up and drive back to the hospital.

The drive to the hospital was filled with thoughts of how I can help Hyunjin.

Would it be alright for him to stay with me?

Would Uncle take him in?

What if he doesn't get his memories back?

After 20 minutes of traffic - which honestly isn't bad - I finally arrive at the hospital and meet Hyunjin who is sitting in a wheelchair.

"Hey," I say as I wave and walk up to him.

"Hey!"

"Ah! Miss y/n!" The doctor walks up to us. "So... You're going to take care of him?"

"It seems like it... I feel indebted to him for saving my life."

"That's understandable."

He gives me the rundown of what to do and what not to do when taking care of Hyunjin. Since his leg is still in a cast, he isn't allowed to walk on it and has to use crutches. I'm also supposed to help him try to get his memories back... and that is the one task that I have no idea how to handle.

"What did he say?" Hyunjin asks me.

"He said no walking and you can't get your cast wet. Once we leave the hospital you'll have to use crutches in order to get around."

"I assumed that was what he said."

"He also asked me to help you get your memories back..."

"Really? How?"

"I don't know, but we'll try."

He looks worried but quickly puts a smile back on his face as we leave the hospital. I give him his crutches as a nurse helps him stand up. He struggles for a few steps toward the car but quickly gets the hang of it.

"Wow! I've never seen someone get used to crutches so quickly!" the nurse says.

"Really?"

I translate what she said to Hyunjin.

"Well, it's not the first time I've used them."

It took a moment for what he said to register in both of our heads.

"Wait! Did you remember something?"

"Maybe? I just have this vague memory of using crutches before."

"That's great! Well - not that you were hurt before obviously..."

He laughs at me and we get in the car. During the drive to my apartment, Hyunjin wouldn't stop asking me questions about the places we were driving by and what my apartment was like. Getting him into the building and up to the 8th floor was a struggle in itself.

"Wow! The view is so nice!" he says while looking out the windows and at the sunset.

I set his bags down in the guest bedroom and come back to find Hyunjin asleep on the couch. I place a blanket over him and head to my own room to get some rest.
