Lockdown in Hogwarts- Chapter Two

Around in the afternoon, the practices were concluded. All team members were returning to their rooms.

Oh, you probably might be thinking why is that I am always saying rooms and not cubicles in their dormitories! Well, that is what 'The New Statute' is all about. Not all literally, but it does consist of this new directive.

Only first-years were allowed to stay in the common dormitory with all the cubicles separating their spaces, but from the second year onwards, students were allotted their individual rooms.

After the fall of Hogwarts during the Second Wizarding War, it was reconstructed again but in an all-new style. Though some of the things remained the same, many of them were modified. One of them was the room structure. It was debated upon and settled with the decision of partitioning the chambers to provide them with more personal space.

The previous system had both its pros and cons. While students used to know each other well and became best friends, there were few bullies too. And I think I don't have to mention their behaviour or characteristics, as it can be fairly predicted.

The first-years were allowed to stay together because the environment was new to them and they can be easily intimidated with all that was going around the school. Hence it was essential for them to stay together so that they could protect each other.

While they were promoted to the second year, they had a fair amount of knowledge to keep away any intruders or trespassers. Although they did not learn the advanced spells in the first year itself, they were quite safe there.

On top of it, room designations were random. Students from all four houses were assigned their rooms in sequential order. So there would be a Gryffindor in one room and a Slytherin beside him/her. This led to better relations among the different houses and their students.

All the different years were in turn separated from each other to avoid circumstances like bullying and harassment. The first, second, and third years had their dormitories and rooms in the left-wing of the castle whereas the fourth, fifth, sixth, and the seventh year had their rooms in the right-wing of the castle.

This was a major change in the infrastructure within the castle walls. The Great Hall was refurbished, but no major changes were made there. The Quidditch Stadium was rebuilt from ashes. The practice arenas were reconstructed next to that of the stadium.

The forbidden forest now held many different magical creatures of the wizarding world. Although it was now open for all students, the first and second years were only allowed to go in there, under a professor's supervision.

Students were glad that the forbidden forest was now disclosed for them. Many students developed a hobby of feeding and caring for the creatures, while some indulged themselves in further studies of the beasts.

The last twenty-five years have seen a considerable increase in the number of creatures adorning the forest zone, while the number keeps on adding every year.

The students were now flocking up for their lunch. Soon The Great Hall was once again beaming with its magical radiance. The teachers seated at the High Table were discussing the upcoming Tournament and the preparations of the same.

Once the meals were over, students started towards their way. The house captains led their teams to a secluded area for discussing their game. If they were to discuss it in the common room of their house towers, it was more likely for someone to eavesdrop on them. Hence all the teams used to form a secret meeting place which they changed from time to time. Typical.
